So this is day 7 without much sleep, eating, drinking, or peace in our house. Jack cut 1 tooth last Sunday, then 2 more on Wednesday (he now has 12) but he now has ulcers and cracked lips from not having enough fluids and constantly having his mouth open (am now using Lansinoh on them to help), his lips are swollen, he's constantly bleeding from his lips or his gums, he's screaming all day and night (I got 3 hours sleep last night and he had no naps during the day), his naps are wet but only about 1/3 to 1/2 of normal for say a night time nappy and.... he's on Pamol and Nurofen constantly, he won't take bonjela cos it stings the cuts, won't take teething powder or sprays and is only eating pureed food (maybe a few teaspoons per meal) and yoghurt. Won't drink milk and his water intake is about 1/4 of normal.
He also won't let me hold, touch, feed, comfort, change him or put him to bed (which is great when I'm the stay at homer in our family).
Please please please any instant remedies, advice etc. My whole family today could not believe what a terrible teether he is, he just screams constantly. He's so hungry that he shakes but won't eat or drink. He's now starting to get an ear infection (as he always does when teething) and I just don't know what to do. I'm so upset, tired, hungry myself and I get so frustrated with him because he won't let me comfort him. I'll take him to the doctor tomorrow, but surely all of this can't be normal?
Thanks for reading, I just don't know what to do anymore and sometimes wonder why the hell I would want another one when I can't even handle one child |

Emz I'm really sorry I can't think of any instant remedies. That must be so tough for both you and poor wee Jack.
Actually I did have a thought - how about iceblocks? The cold might help a bit and it would also get some more fluids into him. I bought some cheap plastic things for homemade iceblocks, and just do watered down lemon cordial or juice. Harry loves them.

I'm so sorry that I can't offer any advice. Your poor wee guy - and poor you. I can't imagine how difficult that must be.
I just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and I hope those teeth leave him alone soon.

Thanks for the suggestion Liz, but he won't take anything like that. No iceblocks, feeders with ice in them, wet facecloths or frozen facecloths.
Argh it's doing my head in! He still hasn't gone to sleep and he's been up (apart from 1 sleep for 1hr today) since 2am |

Do you normally feed him in a high chair? maybe you could try just putting the ice blocks or just ice cubes on his tray for him to play with.  Tinned peaches were a fav of my girls out of the fridge, nice and soft but still cool, cucumber slices (with the skin off while his mouth is so sore).  Maybe try crushing ice in a bowl, then it isn't so hard? Sorry I can't think of anything else & what I have given you could get rather messy but good luck in finding something for your wee man. |

ice cream - add it to the pureed fruit, ok not the healthiest but anything at this stage would be good

Hi Emz, you poor thing that sounds just awful for both of you. My boy got viral mouth ulcers at one point and we used Medigel ( you can get it from pharmacy). Its much better than bonjela - instant numbness and you only need to use a tiny, tiny bit.
I would put that on his ulcers and lips before feeding. One thing my stepmum used to do was to freeze bananas for stepbrother to knaw on when teething.
You could try a little rescue remedy as well. In fact you can use it for both of you.
I think that getting water in him is the most important thing even just a mil or two at a time. Syringe it in if you have to.
 Good luck |

It can't be easy for you.
When you say sprays I take it you've tried Teethmed by Nathuropharm? I remember sitting there with Alia while she was teething & she'd have her mouth clamped shut so I blocked her nose & when she went to take a breath I sprayed her. I found it was the only way to get it in until she realised that it made her feel better & then she'd open her mouth for it.
But I'd probably go to the dr, they might be able to help you with something stronger pain wise.
