Hey Manda, my DH reckons that it's not.
Although my old workmate wrote his notice on a piece of toilet paper (and was told not to bother working out his notice and to just leave...)

For a landloard to end a fixed term contract?? And yes they do normally text about inspections etc... only the daughter speaks English!

My landlord informed me of a rent increase by txt, i told her she heeded to give me 60 days written notice and she said ok i will send a letter but the notice starts from the day she txt me not the day i got the letter. She usually txts me about stuff as well.
you could try ringing the tenancy tribunal

Depends how the landlord is ending the fixed term contract. Are they ending it ahead of when the contract finishes? or are they saying at the end of the contract, get out. if the latter - take the text as notice cause technically they don't have to give you any. if the former, ignore it - or ring back cause they actually can't end the contract early unless you agree.

What does your contract say? does it state 'written notice'? then they need to put a pen to paper. unless you're okay with a txt of course!!!

Yeah I would ring the tribunal and see if that is ok. If they say it is and you are on a periodic tenancy - find a new place asap. Even thou they have to give you 42 days notice, get out now.

Well we phoned the tribunal, we are in the right, they cant ask us to leave, fixed term contract cant be ended unless we agree.
AND Text is NOT a form of written notice, neither is an email. So we are fine. Now to see what happens...
