Washing Fuzzi Buns

Hi all you seasoned Fuzzi Bun ladies

I have recently bought some Fuzzi Buns but I am usually a Cold Powder/Surf washer and I'm told that these are really bad for Fuzzi's. So, what do you use to wash your nappies with?

i use persil - they were fine for ages then all of a sudden they started to really smell and no matter what i did i couldnt fix it - i washed with vinegar, baking soda, extra rinses, more powder, less powder. and then when the kids were sick i put them all thru a hot wash with some disinfectant and they havent smelt since. but persil does the trick fine. the fuzzi bunz site says to use your regular washing powder, its when you use too much that you can have a build up and it will cause leaking.

Okay, so do you put them in with your regular clothes washing or do a separate load? ...since they are being washed in the same way.

We rinse the nappies and soak the inserts (overnight) then chuck them all in with a hot temp white wash (we only have the white Fuzzis).
When I've been lazy *ahem* and haven't done a wash for a couple of days and the nappies pile up - I put them all through a hot wash with Eco Store Oxygen Whitener which apparently (according to Fuzzis) removes any build up. We haven't had many leaks since Caitlin grew into her Smalls

Just a tip - If your baby's thighs are a wee bit too skinny on any setting and you get leakage, try tucking the elastic edge back into the nappy once it is on for a snug fit

I always wash ours separetly. this hot wash thing is interesting as we CAN"T do a hot wash. Might have to figure something our...something that doesn't involveme hand-washing however.

ummmm thigh tip, yea, umm how do I say that we don't have any of those problems? I'm just so glad that I'm not the one with chubby thighs ... and a good thing she's not old enough to be offended by that LOL

i just did what Nikki suggersted minus the hot water. can't say it's made much difference but:
a) only did it last night and nappies are still outside and..
b) nappies didn't smell anyway. just did it to prevent.

I usually soak in nappisan actually but we had run out, so i've been using Pams (about $2 cheaper!!) but not sure it is as good.

Now that I've got you Aimee - I'm thinking of getting some Fuzzis for Jake. I figure he will be in nappies another few months full time and then probably at least a year at night...and then taine can have them. But he is a rather large boy (18kg) and he's not fat but solid. he's in the 13-18kg nappy range and fine with that - but he also wets a lot at night and we have to put him in specific night nappies or he'll wet and wake up (cosies if anyone is interested). Would Fuzzis be suitable?

Just wanted to add Han's size in fuzzis... she wears a large and is on the second to last snap on one side (and one tighter on the other side) during the day and in a sleep nappy (read: as much stuffing as I can fit in the damn thing) she is on the second to last snap on both sides.

So, last I remember, Jake was a tad larger than Han. So yeah, definitely go with the extra large, especially if you are going to need to add heaps for night time.

If you don't mind, that would be awesome...and remember Gisborne on your "travesl" around the countryside. Bring Hannah over for a holiday...we have the beach and hot surfer boys.....(although you may not need one - then again a year is a long time )
