Has anyone managed to find an effective way to manage hayfever in pregnancy??
I have being trying some herbal remedies( including Weleda spray) and using saline rinses but nothing really seems to make much difference. 
It seems to have been getting a bit worse lately, especially when I'm in bed - usually wake-up quite bad about 3.30 - 4 am and can't get back to sleep and worried aout disturbing DH too much with all my sniffing (guess he's got to get used to getting woken up for when baby arrives  ) Today my nose started blooding a little when blowing it - I usually only get that when I'm on beconase.
Any ideas. I'm getting desperate

I'm sure you can use the alanase spray, maybe check with your mw. My MW said I could take my claratyne at one point, but I think that was towards the end.

Midwife said no to Beconase, which I think it pretty much the same as Alanase? I am seeing her on Monday though so will check again.

The pharmacist I went to told me that I could take Claratyne (or one of the cheaper ones that is the same drug under a different brand name). I had a couple of weeks of REALLY bad hayfever over Christmas, but thankfully it is pretty much gone away now.
Whatever you do to manage it - good luck

There's a natural product called hayfever gel that works really well. it's by botanica. I was reccommended this by the pharmacist as I get really itchy tickly nose and this stuff was great! and steroid free. beconase and alanase contain the same steroid drug and I was told these were a no no.

Thanks Chiqa, might try and find some of that gel.
There is some pretty conflicting info out there isn't there. I was also told any oral antihistamines were a no go, but it sounds like some people are told to take them

Most oral antihistamines are a no go, but the ones that make you sleepy are ok - Phenergan and Polaramine. I was given phenergan to help me sleep when I was pregnant, as well as for horrible hayfever.

You cant take Beconase, alanase etc (anything thtas you have in the cupboard that says beclomethasone) cause yip its a steroid
You can take sedating antihistamines and loratidine - claratyne, loratab etc - these are class b drugs - unlikely to cause effect on the unborn child.
But as with all meds when your preggie - give your midwife a call - some people are unable to take these because of underlying health conditions - pregnant or not

It might look ridiculous but DH and SIL have both used something similar to this (SIL when pregnant) and it made a huge difference. Not sure where you can get them here though? Ours came from the UK.

My Dr gave me Alananse last pregnancy but a low dose steriod one. It was fine she said. I take New Era combination salts for hayfever(you get them from a health food shop) and I find them quite good. I get quite bad hayfever sometimes.

I used beconase while I was pregnant - the OB said it was ok as so little of the steroid actually goes to the baby. Turns out it was the least of my problems while preggers as I ended up on steroids for a chest infection anyway. I would make sure you talk to a Dr before taking anything though, as its not something to take any chances with.

Totally agree - Docs can generally give you a few options especially when the benefits out weigh the risks - MW;s are also aware of what can be taken when really required

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm intrigued by the red-light thing Turtle  .
I might chat to midwife and maybe dr as it is getting to a point when I'm up half the night so it is getting difficult to function.
I wish that these things were a bit more straight forward.

I used this too and found it really helped .
It is hard to find, but I had a real friendly pharmasist who just ordered it for me.
It's a very small tube, but it lasted me a whole month. (and then the pharmasist ordered me another one)
