Topic: Nappy changing question     Posted: 16 July 2007 at 7:42am |

Bit of a random question, but I was thinking about it all last night (instead of sleeping!)

We moved bubs bassinette into our room last night. Now I don't know how long it will stay in there, but we thought we'd try it out when he comes home etc.

Question is, do I move the change table aswell? What do you do in the middle of the night when bubs needs changing? Do you just do it on the floor? How often will they need changing at night? How do you fit everyting in!!!

We had the bassinet in the room and when he needed changing/feeding we had a night light and changed him on a change mat on the bed as there was not room for the change table, that lived in the lounge by the fire for the million changes during the day!!

Ben needing changing once or twice a night, but could be more if he did a gusher and wet through all his clothes, some nights there were two changes of clothes...
All bubbas are different ben was happy to lie and sleep in wet clothes and poo it was only when he woke to feed in the night did I realise he was wet but some babies hate it and will scream if get wet so just wait and see what sort you get!!

You can change most ones in the cot, especially in the early days. I wouldn't move the change table in; what about the next room over?

I just carried Sam into his bedroom and changed him on the change table. He slept in the bassinette for about five weeks in our bedroom. He didn't really notice me moving him.

I would take the nappies & wipes into the bedroom at night, & change them on our bed.

We used to change Lucy on the bed after I had finished breastfeeding her lying down, had to put her on a blanket though, just in case of woopsies! We had her in our room in the bassinette for about 6 weeks, then moved her to her cot

I took Josh into his room where the change table was as the nappies and wipes etc were in there.

It depended on the night - sometimes would change him on the bed but the majority of the time took him into his room to change. It didn't seem to make much difference. In the early days in was DH doing the changing to save me getting out of bed after having a c-section.

Well, I've put together a basket of nappies, wipes, creams, nappy rubbish bags and a change mat etc and left it in our room.

The bubs room is at the other end of the house, and I'm thinking at 3.00am it will be very cold in there!!!
 Thanks for all the responses

I changed rhyley in his room (we didnt have him in the same room as us) I just changed him on my knee lying sideways or the floor if it was warm enough. I tried to keep in quiet and dark as i could so he learnt days and night.I would say on you bed would be the best way to go. Just use a blanket or something over your bed (incase you get run away poos or wees - it happens) take every thing you need for changing in the room when you go to bed so they are on hand. And I would change Rhyley half way thru a feed. ( or if he had poo'd I would do it first)

i feed in the lounge at night (mainly cause i need to get the bottle made anyway its jsut easier) and change on the floor (never used a change table love the floor).
with haleigh i used to change her in her cot, but our room isnt as spacious as the one in that house was so cant do that here i can only jsut get out on my side.
we have our lounge quite dark, james is good htough he usually falls asleep on burping then will be out to it while i change his nappy and get him into bed again.
