Happy Mothers Day Clothies!!! 
I am 3/4 way through my first pair of longies for Leo and I wanted to know how easy it is to lanolise them so they are waterproof, or should I just keep them as they are to go over fitted & covers as extra protection?

They won't do much if you want to use them as covers if they aren't lanolised.

There is several different ways to lanolise woollens, solid or liquid lanolin etc but what I think looks the best and easiest (and what I MUST buy) is the spray on stuff. Bumbles web site has info on lanolising as well as the products. I think the brand is suds and duds.

i have some that i havent yet lanolised either and i use them over pockets and fitteds with covers so you could do that till you do lanolise. sometimes to tho wool may have enough lanolin in them to last for a little while...

liquid lanolin heres a whole heap of spray on stuff, I'm not sure how to use it tho I assume you just spray it on?

To use your soaker or longies as nappy covers you will need to lanolise them to make them leak proof. You can buy a specific lanolising product eg Sudz'n'Dudz balm, wool wash bar or liquid wash from Bumbles or just get pure lanolin from a sheepskin shop or use Purelan or Lansinoh from the chemist and apply as follows:
Pea-sized dollop in a cup of boiling water with a dollop of baby shampoo or wool wash to dissolve; fill bucket with lukewarm water to cover your cover, pop cover in, mix in the lanolin mix. Leave it to sit for approx 15 mins. Then gently roll up the cover in a towel to dry.

Thanks so much everyone! Might just take a trip down to my local chemist to see what they have - esp. if it saves me on postage. I certainly don't mind using the pure lanolin method if it's cheaper 
Does lanolising change the texture of the wool at all i.e. does it remain soft?

Yeah they stay soft, the only prob with using the solid type lanolin is it's sticky and a bit smelly!! I like the easy route! However the reason I haven't done mine is I've got to go and buy the stuff (no excuse really as Bumbles is just down the road  )

Woo-hoo, just finished knitting my longies!! They look really long (esp. in the rise) but hopefully it'll help in covering a big night nappy. I can't wait to try them on Leo and then make the waist tie
