About us moving to a new house tomorrow.

Lucy is 2.5 years and we have told her numerous times that we are moving to a new house, and new bedroom and that daddy, mummy and zoe are going too.

We have DH's parents looking after her and zoe tomorrow for the day, so when they come home to the new house, all of their bedrooms should be looking good like they were before. Not that Zoe will have any idea.

Just worried about Lucy. Any tips, or just me telling her today will be enough?

Should be fine. We found Joey to be much crusier with the whole thing than we thought. Try and keep her FAVE things somewhere accesible though because then you don't have to hunt through boxes this evening if she desperately wants something :)Good luck moving!!

I remember when we moved when Blair was about Lucys age and he loved it a new place to run around and a new bedroom.
She should be fine, dont they say that young children adapt really well to change.
Just an idea and i know it would be easier without her there but maybe if you had her there for a little bit to help move a few things, might help her get use to it, like i said just an idea??
Have fun moving hope the weather is fine.

After we sold our house we stayed with my parents for a week before we moved into this place. Nyah was 3, for a couple of days she kept asking to go home. Eventually she got it that we weren't "going home" and she settled down fine.

When we moved here, she was at daycare, so didn't really get it until she got here and saw her room. Then it clicked with her.

Michaela was 19 mo when we moved. I don't think she had a clue what we meant when we told her we were moving house but she knew something was up when we did all the packing.

The first thing I unpacked when we got to our new house was Michaela's room. I made sure everything was set up, beds were made, toys were out etc so she had all her familiar things around her.

I also took her and let her run around the new house before we moved and we also showed her around the old house after we moved everything out.

ETA: Good luck with the move.

That's a good idea about showing her the "old house", the thing is with the "old house" is that we will be back here over the next week to clean it as we are renting our new house for a week, then we will be able to offically own it the week after = YAY!

A friend of my sisters moved and her kids were in daycare for the day, when they went to the new house the kids freaked out and wanted to go home, took them a while to settle into the new house because they hadn't had anything to do with the move.
We moved 3 months ago with a then 16 month old and had no problems, we just made sure her room was the first to be set up and while others were bringing in boxes she and I unpacked things so she was a big part of it.
Good luck.

We moved when Briona was 15mos and Hannah was almost 3yrs. We told them a lot what was going to happen and Hannah would seem to understand but then make some random comment about coming back. Anyway she must have figured it all out in the end and we had no probs with them moving in. Make sure you pack any blankie that is special for sleeping/settling in your "carry-on" luggage

We moved when Maya was 15 months and I did what MrsMojo did - got her new room all set up while she was at daycare so she came home to a new house but the same room if that makes sense.

Moved again when she was 3 and a bit and she understood a lot more then, we let her set up her own room the way she wanted it so she felt involved.
