Ok I had put this down to a growth spurt but now i am not too sure.

Normally Ethan sleeps through the night, is a very placid baby never cries and is always happy. He is eating solids and is otherwise fully breastfed.

Lately he has been feeding 3 hourly at night, gets grumpy during the day and espically at about 8 at night. He is playing around when he is feeding and I don't think he is feeding properly.

Ethan is heathly as so I don't think he is sick or sore or anything.

Do you think it could be a growth spurt or something else??

It sounds like a growth spurt, but they usually come at 2, 6 and 12 weeks. It could be a late one if it is.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Yea his cheeks are red and he did start teething a while ago but I have tired to give him Bonjella and Pamol but it doesn't seem to do anything so I'm not sure if it is teething??

Unless I am wrong. I just really don't know.

ETA: Everything he picks up is going straight into his mouth. So if it is teething how can I get him to sleep longer at night?

growth spurts can come at any time so it could be. How long has he been on solids? if it hasn't been long he might be getting a sore tum or getting a bit blocked up. If its teething give him some pamol and bonjela before bed and if he still doesn't sleep thru it hopefully shouldn't be for too long.

I would panadol him and then put bonjella on. Not much you can do about the lack of sleep except ride it out sorry.

I think it's a growth spurt. If it is, it should settle within a week. My girls both growth spurted at 3 1/2 mos and 4 1/2 mos (the latter at which point I introduced solids) and went to 2 hourly feeding at night!

I agree Linelle. I was telling a friend of mine whose little boy was born on the same day as Ben that he was feeding all over the show and mucking around while feeding. She said her boy was doing the same.
This was a couple of weeks ago so I think they must go through another little growth spurt around that age.
Hope he settles down for you soon!

I would say its a growth spurt too. My son did that at 4 1/2 months and thats when i gave up breastfeeding thinking I just wasn't filling him up - not that I am saying give up BF the opposite really as it does pass.

Yea your milk catches up pretty quick....

Is it okay to give Pamol and Bonjela at the same time? I thought not
