   cm dilated were you, when you went into established (active) labour? Particularly 2nd time around. Saw MW on Thurs arvo and I was 3cm dilated and his head is very,very low and she managed to stretch me to 4cm and said it looked all good to go. But still here I am in one piece and extremely sore down there (hurts everytime I walk).  Surely I can't get much more dilated before I go into proper labour ? |

   With DD1, I vaguely recall 5cm or so? I think it is probably one of those things that could vary quite a lot from woman to woman. 
 With DD2 no idea - I declined all VE's during labour because I didn't want to get hung up on numbers, as it turns out there wasn't enough time anyway!    |

   With my 3rd (2nd 'normal birth) i had a stretch and sweep at 16 days overdue and i was 6cms and could be stretched to 8+cms and i wasnt in labour until over 24hrs after the s&s.

 I was pretty much the same as you .
 I thought it would never start , despite being dilated , went for lots of walks, laid down on my left side in the bath and contractions started the next morning .
 I still stayed at 4cms for about 8 hours tho , which was a pain

   I was over 5cm at my last s+s before having adele, and they just broke my waters and she arrive 53 minutes later

   i was 7cm when i got to hospital with ds2 labour had only started about 10mins b4 that.
 ds3 i dont know as i went in for a ve was 2cm so sent home he was born a few hrs later.
 
 with ds4 i randomly went into labour at 2am and was 7-8cm about 20mins later
