I'm not the biggest fan of little kids with earings. I think their little ears are so perfect they dont need any extra 'decorations'
I'd also worry too much that theyd get riped out or infected.
Keira occasionally likes o dress up with stick on earings and I guess one day when she really wants them and I feel shes old enough to look after herself then maybe she can get them done.
I got mine done at 11. I was never the best at caring for them and always had problems (they did them soo crooked too) I eventually let them close up. Last year I decided to get them re-pierced and I think I was much more scared the second time around.

Both my girls have them done. Paris got hers done just before age 3 when she had been asking for them for ages and ages, it was meant to be a 3rd birthday thing but we went to hamilton just before then and we got them done there because i trust the place there far more so than the place here in palmy that will do young children. then ayja was asking and asking and asking, and of course her older sister had them, so at age 2 and a half, ayja got hers done - again we had been going to wait but went to my sister's on holiday in hamilton again and went into town and she asked if she could have them please. so of course we said ok.
Paris was ok, they did one, she cuddled me and the other had been done before she even realised the first had been done. she yes, did cry a bit, but once she saw the earings in the mirror straight after - that was it. She wasn't great with letting me do things to them and still isn't now alot of the time, however she got them done young enough that mostly she forgot they were there ulike 5 yr olds which can spend the day fiddling and twiddling with them leading to germies and infection.
Ayja, is WONDERFUL with letting me take them out, clean them and put new ones in. They have 3 pairs of tiny plain studs each in pink, blue and purple, and they only tend to get changed if we are going somewhere really special to match their outfits if they want, of if they've been in a few months and need a bit of a clean.
Otherwise we've had no problems.
I don't know about anything much under the age i got the girls done. I did only get them done because they were driving me nuts with asking, and they had had them fully explained to them many times about how yes they'd hurt etc. I know - maybe still too young to understand fully, but the right time for us.
If they want any more though they'll have to wait till at least intermediate/college age. And i do object to facial piercings. If they came to me at 15 and wanted their belly done though - i'd be fine to take them to get it done. Simply as it would be hypocritical of me to say no since i've had mine done since about then.

It's quite common in some cultures to get them done early isn't it?
Personally I haven't even considered it with Alyssa, and will just wait and see if she asks for it when she's older. I got mine done when I was about 13 or something..

I think I'd only get E's done if she wants them and she'll have to be at least intermediate age, so she's old enough to know what the descision involves and to look after them.
I visited a DC recently and two 6 month old babies had their ears pierced and the staff were really concerned that their ears were going to get ripped by other children. Could think of nothing more awful!

The logistics of taking care of them etc is what puts me off - why bother!
I got mine done at 10, wasn't allowed them earlier and I'm fine with that. If we have a girl, she can have them done at an age that a) she wants them - I'm all for kids getting to make their own choices about things incl peircings and religion, and b) that DH and I thought was appropriate. For me though, it was more a 'coming of age' type thing as I see earrings as a grown up accessory, I don't see the fascination of babies and kids wearing jewellery and being put at risk of getting them pulled and ripped by other kids, or them catching on things.

Mum got my ears pierced when I was about 2. My sister's were also pierced about that age. I remember getting them done too. Didn't cry though and don't recall it being painful. Mum only left plain studs in our ears though and I don't remember having any problems with them at all. It wasn't until we were old enough, about 8, that we were allowed to start wearing different earings in our ears, and I was pretty good at looking after my ears myself by then anyway. I think I might do the same with Emily's ears.

Yeah my babies only kept studs in and I have in the last 2 weeks just changed Alize's from the one he got pierced with at 10mths old. Mercedes has since taken hers out as she doesnt like to wear earring often but on special occasions she will put some fancy ones in lol. Her ears will never close up. non of the kids have ever had an infection or had them ripped out. I havent had to do anything to take care for them at all. Lesieli is nearly 13 and has never had a problem with her earrsings or ears.
