Topic: Internet drama. Posted: 29 March 2006 at 10:04pm |
First of all, don't panic, I'm not referring to you ladies (with the title) ! Secondly, I'm exhausted, so will *try* to make this short and sweet.
Basically, I'm begging all of you - please please please please PLEASE don't go all feral and bitchy and dramatic on me ok? EVER. You ladies are awesome, I love this website to bits, y'all are alright in my books - and by that I mean gutsy, passionate, funny, and honest.
However, some people on other forums (completely unrelated website) that I shall not name, are not quite so upstanding. I know I'm really a big softy whose bark is way worse than her bite, but I can't *STAND* people who lie and backstab and act like they were still in high school. Like I said, you ladies are pretty gutsy and not afraid of speaking your minds - and you do it exceptionally well... but just reassure me, that if I ever say something DUMB (and I don't mean just preggy brain dumb), or offensive, or something - that you'll just be plain with me, or if there's a problem - that you'll say it straight to my face !
Ok so, maybe this post isn't going to be as short and sweet as I thought, and probably sounds a lot angrier than I intended it to be, but boy oh boy did I need to vent. A lot of it is probably hormones, but this whole mum-to-be gig has already changed my life heaps, and I see things a lot differently now - especially relationships between people (even ones that I hardly know).
Drama makes me want to spew, really - and I'm comfortable here because of the reasonable lack of that I feel that even though internet relationships based on common interests can be tenuous at times, that I can be reasonably confident in saying I *know* you guys (or gals in this case), which is why I'm happy to let myself go LOL(go on, and on, and on... that is !) But most importantly, to be able to do that and not be afraid of what people will say back, or think, or do or WHATEVER... is *really* important to me.
Right so, I think that's all for now !!
Thanks for putting up with me girls
 for you all !!

wow sounds like you have had a bad experience. Hope you feel a bit better now you have vented.
I think its safe to say we are all fairly open minded here and even if we do have strong opinions I havent felt anyone has tried to force them on others (and hope I havent done that to anyone) we seem to debate well on this site rather than get agro with each other so dont stress Im sure if you do really upset someone they will take it objectively or let you know.

Wow Jax, I would sooooo love to read what has made you upset. Hows about posting a link, huh, huh?
I do have pretty strong opinions on certain things but try not to shove them down peoples throats, as basicly its only my opinion.
So sorry to anyone ive ever offended, its never been intentional. I love all of you and dont know what id do without my ohbaby pals.

I love the oh baby site too. I feel a lot "safer" here than other forums I am a member of. I love how everyone is so supportive and helpful without being mean!!!

me too! I think some other forums canbe a little judgmental. I had some woman on another site (cough. treasures. cough) tell me how dumb it was for me not to realise I was pregnant so soon after having Jake. Last time i went on there! I mean, i know it wasn't the smartest thing evef, but did not appreciate it being pointed out!

yep this place is pretty wonderful - and everyone is supportive - there's no such thingas a dumb question, if it's worrying you chances are it's worrying someone else as well, or HAS worried someone else at some point.
That actually, to be very truthful, was kinda the reason i was a bit apprehensive at first of all this big influx of people joining this forum - i was a bit worried it would go to pack and loose the closeness and bond that we all seem to have - am glad to say that hasn't happened, and everyone seems to really accept that the rules here are to support each other.

Haha, Whenever I come on here I come on with an Open Mind that everyone one is different, no two mothers are the same and we have different ways of parenting. I may put my 2 cents in and offend someone (if I have I'm sorry) but as I said we are all different and any advice we get is like gold
Jax - Hope you feeling a bit happier now, our tankers have been ood lately so haven't had an excuse to ring you!

mmm Jax i totally agree its not until you get pregnant and are gonna be a mum that you notice all the picky bickering around you, i cant believe there are some of my friends who wont talk to someone coz they dated another person in the same house after they dated their current boyfriend Days of our Lives soap drama! lol and to me its like just freakin get over it!!! You cant pretend your in high school all your life.
If you ever need to vent outside of here you know where to find me
But i totally agree that Ohbaby is really good its where you can ask the "silly" questions and not get flamed for it, its really really good

 Jax We're here for you!
It is nice that we all can talk and present our own opinions without giving offence (at least, not deliberatly offending, anyway). I'm really thankful to know all of you and know that even though I'm now third-time around, I still can't ask a stupid question!

I remember when i started coming on here. Some people had TWOkids and I didn't even have one yet. I remember thinking -they must know EVERYTHING!! Now, two kids later, I laugh and laugh and know crap-all.

Oh Jax some one has really pissed you off ...huh???
I personally think that all the members of Oh Baby are nice, supportive and interesting. I must admit that I dont belong to any other forum so cant say I know how people are there.
I asked my share of dumb questions and these ladies always made me feel normal after....that is special, specially to a first time mum. I love chatting to every one here. I would like to take this opportunity and say sorry to any one I have ever offended, trust me it was not intenational....I would hate to think that I have hurt any of you lovely ladies.

I love it here too! Everyone is so lovely and supportive without being preachy or in your face. I don't belong to any other forums either so luckily for me I only have good experiences with internet friends. I seriously don't know what I would have done without you girls sometimes - no question is seen as dumb, if you have fear about anything all you get is reassurance. It's great here!! Awww.... warm fuzzy, hugs hugs

Well it wasn't just Jax who is pretty ticked, it's me too as the incident Jax is referring to also involved me as being on the receiving end of the backstabbing that went on at this site. I was very disappointed at how these people could turn horrible.
I too am so glad that every one here is genuine and that we have had none of that horrid stuff going on so big thank you to everyone!!!

Oooh, lots of warm fuzzys!
Aimee, I've had five stars for a couple of months now. It used to be if I spotted a prob I would have to tell Ange (my boss) and get her to sort it, so she decided it would be easier if I could just do it. Plus it means I can do announcements and Sticky's.
But beware - I can also delete you all mwahahahaha!
Just kidding!

aaah the un-attainable 5 stars, lolol. funny how newbies etc always want to know how to get them ALTHOUGH.... now that you mention it - I reckon i should be awarded them! I am, after all, only around 500 posts short of your total Emma. It was close there for a while. You must have stepped up your game, te he he
Liz - i am soo laughing and sharing your comment about thinking mums with more than 1 kid knew it all - they really don't.
if anything all we have learnt by having a second child is shortcuts and quick fixes. plus most of the time the second child is so completely different to the first that you are back at square one again. and no matter how short the amount of time is betweent hem when you go to dress or bath baby for the first time you're still thinking "ok, now how did i do this again?" "oooh i forgot that babies don't bend!!"
