Ok so other than the fact that it doesnt look very nice, is cradle cap bad or harmful in any way?
Everybody mentions eden's cradle cap and then asks what i am using on it...even a nurse at the docs when i took toby the other day!

BTW when she had it bad I used olive oil, left it on (under a hat) for several hours then brushed it off. That got rid of most of it and had I been a bit more persistent it probably would have got rid of all of it.

Oli had it and I only half-heartedly treated it, somedays I would put some olive oil or almond oil on it, but most of the time I didnt worry about and it just went away.
My Plunket nurse told me to use a credit card to scrape it off....I thought that was just wierd....and couldnt imagine it would be hygenic or comfortable!

On this site it says: "Cradle cap is not a serious condition and is only temporary. It usually clears up by the time the child is 6 to 12 months old but may occasionally persist for longer."

BTW. The site specifically says not to use olive oil  as this "encourages proliferation of malassezia" (whatever that is).
ETA: I've just read several other sites that recommend use of olive oil and other vege oils. I'm so confused

Spencer still has a lot now, you can see it though cos he has so much hair  I gave up trying to get rid of it

Hannah's is chronic 
We've tried everything from baby and olive oil to Bepanthen and Egozite. Nothing worked.
I don't know if it's just coincedence, but we've started using Johnson's baby shampoo+conditioner and it's getting (slowly) better each day.
Unfortunately, her hair is coming with it...she's starting to look like her Grandad!

ouch at the credit card! and lol at Hannah looking like her grandad Charly!!
Have always had success with baby oil and a soft brush, I dont think its bad though? Just one of those things that may not lok that fantastic but isnt actually harmful

Jake still had it up until recently. Taine still has it realy bad. we use t-gel now - which stinks but is working. i think his is less cradle cap and more dermititis now though

It bugs me that the likes of Plunket bring this up all the time and yet when you ask them, they'll readily agree that it's not a problem! It's just cosmetic.
My mw told me to not bother with all the oils, just brush it with a baby brush as that brings out the natural hair oils and that's fine!!

it actually worked!!

I just checked Michaela's head while she was in the bath and it looks like hers is gone. So it's one of those things where procrastination works a treat.

Mercedes still has it. All three of mine had it bad as little babies, I used to pick at the gremlins heads until it got red and nasty looking and I had to use diprasone scalp lotion on it from the doctor  No more picking after that!

I tried this too as DS had it really bad when younger. It worked a treat but did return. The Plunket nurse was horrified when I told her I had used this old remedy  . She told me to leave it alone and it will go away. Got worse again so used olive oil and brushed the flakes off which worked well. Has nearly all gone now.
I think it is one of those things where you just have to try things and see which works for your bubs.

mum put a little lavender essential oil on Keziah's head, left it for about 1/2 an hour then took to it with a bank card.... came right off!! I thought 'EWWWW mum stop using that on my daughters head', but it definitely did the trick and now her CC is almost gone and it was REALLY bad \
We also found that Ecostore shampoo (with essential oils in it) helped HEAPS and it smells really nice too!!

Harry's was bad for him cos he was scratching it all the time and it was kinda weeping when he scratched it, poor lil mite. I tried everything, olive oil did nothing. In the end the only thing that cleared it up was putting hydrocordisone on it a couple of times, and thank goodness we haven't had it again since cos I can't keep doing that. He'd had it for months though and it was really bothering him (scratching etc). I did wonder if it wasn't exactly cradle cap in the end though, who knows.

Tom had/has heaps of it. I was far too lazy to do anything about it. now that his hair has grown I dont notice it...I think it may have gone.
