Ajay I say run while you feel comfortable. When it feels wrong it is probably time to walk, not get a belly support (which won't stop baby bouncing on your pelvic floor! ) Another Physio friend (pilates and running freak) managed to run until 8months and was running again at 6weeks after caesarean.
Mmmmm licorice bullets....yummy. Trying a few different things diet wise to help my constipation. I don't want anything hard other than a baby popping out down there!!

Herewegoagain - swimming is the perfect exercise...especially since your son will love it too! And you've got more excuse to play in the pool than I do since you've got your wee boy to play with.

Atiamuri - is baby bouncing on the pelvic floor bad? I have a very strong pelvic floor due to all the pilates I do. Good advice to just keep going until I no longer feel comfortable. I feel completely like I did pre-pregnancy at the mo....it's the most normal I feel when I run. My doctor said there's nothing better for baby than me to keep running sensibly....esp because all the extra oxygen running through my body means baby gets more O2 which is great for development. She was very encouraging of the health benefits for me and baby.

As for constipation...I'm an expert on this as I have had it pre-pregnancy and quite a bit through pregnancy. Something I do every night which works wonders for me is to have psyllium husks in water. I don't use the ones from the pharmacy or supermarket as they are just loaded with sugar and artificial crap. I buy plain psyllium husks from the health shop (they are cheap). It is not that nice to take (and you have to drink it quickly before it gets gluggy) but it works amazingly. I will continue my nightly routine of p.husks throughout pregnancy and beyond no doubt.

Prune juice also works well, I had that in the first few weeks of pregnancy but have been unable to stomach it during my sickest times. Then there are the high fibre fruits like prunes, dates, apricots, pears. And grains of course...I can't have bran because I can't have gluten but if you can have All Bran or one of those then that should really help you. I eat quite a bit of quinoa which is high in fibre. Getting enough magnesium in your diet helps too. Every few days I take a vitamin C, zinc and magnesium drink.

And of course it's water and exercise that are important too. It's a constant battle for me but I do find the psyllium husks at night works wonders. Good luck....I know how awful it can be.

MissJen, I agree on the weird coincidences regarding due date/miscarriage date. My DD, was born on the same date that I miscarried my first pregnancy, the even weirder coincidence is that my DD wasn't due for another 10 weeks. She was 10 weeks premature, but was born the exact same date as my miscarriage. I like to think it's the baby that we lost coming back to us.

Haven't had an anterior placenta, but from what I know, it just may mean you don't feel bub moving as early as those without an anterior placenta. Doesn't mean you won't feel it as much, just not as early, ie; not till they're really big enough to give a good boot on your internal organs. Of course, you may also feel it more in your back than in your front.

Bexee, yay for a good scan.

Herewegoagain, exercise? Umm nothing really, too tired to be bothered to be honest up till now. I'm running round after a 3 year old, which gives me some.

I had an anterior placenta with my son, not for this one though which will be a new experience.
Just meant I couldn't feel him till about 18 weeks but once I did it didn't stop!!

Ajay - thanks for the tips on the constipation. I'm not really jammed up but definitely not as regular as I usually am and its harder work than I'd like he he. I already have a really high fibre diet ( I make my own museli with lots of seeds, nuts, grains etc) and lots of fresh fruit/veges and water. I just want a little something extra to help *erm* lubricate IYKWIM One of the girls at work suggested licorice or dried apricots so will try each for at least a few days and failing that will add psyllium.

As far as bouncing on the pelvic floor, they will be stretched with the weight of baby anyway so extra bouncing can be problematic for some people but not all. Just remember being too tight can also be a problem (same friend's baby was breech and couldn't be turned because of how tight she was) so its all a balancing act. Just go with what feels comfortable. I've heard (and I'm sure a couple of you all who are on their second or more pregnancies can vouch) that it can get to the stage where everything feels like its going to fall out. Eeeek!! Preservation of pelvic floor will carry you in good stead for recovery, sex life after, continence, strength in your back etc etc. Your body will tell you when its time to slow down!

O.k, reading your post Atiamuri just made me do and remember kegel exercises! The silent exercise lol.

We have a local pool up the road, so I might try there. I am disapointed that this summer swimming is most likely out of the question at the beach, stupid Rena.

I learnt my lesson with constipation, with my last pregnancy. Not a nice feeling. I'm going to try psyllium husks, if I can find some.

Atiamuri, yep good tip about doing pelvic floor exercises. I haven't suffered with leakage issues since my DD's pregnancy, but she was born prem via c-sect, so that probably factors in a bit, didn't get to the really heavy weight pushing down on it stage.

I started seeing an osteopath to help realign my body when TTC this time round, and she explained the function of the various diaphragms in the body, (pelvic floor being one of them) and said that they all need to be working well to help maintain a healthy body. So pelvic floor exercises and breathing exercises were one's I did.

I'm thinking I may need to start taking something to help with the #2's also. Not "feeling" constipated, but only going every 2-3 days (different to the constant diarrhea in my early pregnancy days). But when I do go, I get bleeding from that area. It's definitely from that hole, and not my vagina. So either I have a fissure or hemorrhoids.

Cricket - I take all my natural treatments under advice from a trained naturopath. She has recommended psyllium husks to me (as has my midwife and doctor!). So I think it's fair to say it is safe in pregnancy if professionals have advised that it is ok.

What you are reading is pharmaceutical companies that don't want to be held to account if anything goes wrong with a pregnant woman taking their treatment (often in USA law suits is reality and companies like to cover their ass). Also the treatments you are probably looking at are not straight organic p.husks....those products that contain p.husks can be loaded with artificial sweeteners and fillers and other nasties that are not good in pregnancy.

The only reason p.husks could be problematic is if anyone suffers from intestinal problems or other medical bowel conditions...but then again if you did suffer from such problems I'm sure you are seeking medical advice for your constipation due to your medical condition. Also the husks can be difficult to take in their natural form (the mixture gets quite gluggy) so it is recommended that women who have esophagus problems/or difficulties swallowing should not take it.

But don't fear ladies plain p.husks is a natural food that is often used in bread! So yes it is safe, safe, safe (unless you have other medical conditions as mentioned above).

I pay to see a naturopath every few weeks (as does Ooligator)...it is brilliant and I would highly recommend it for any of you that go and buy your own products from the health shop or pharmacy without trained advice. It's is easy to get confused by what the bottle says and misinformation. What you need is a trained professional that knows your complete medical history and can make the right decision for you based on your personal circumstances and their expert knowledge of the products

And forgot to say about Phloe....it is quite costly for what it is (basically it is an ingredient derived from kiwifruit). I asked my naturopath about it a long time ago. She asked me some questions about my eating and what foods seem to relieve constipation. In that conversation she determined that kiwifruit have no impact on me whatsoever! (I can eat quite a few and still be constipated). So she devised that it was not a good product for me and I needed something that (sorry TMI) bulked up the stool and makes it easier to go - like psyllium husks - rather than a freeze dried powder from kiwi that won't make much difference to me. And as she pointed out it is not cheap to continually buy Phloe compared to the very cheap psyllium husks (think I paid $6 for 250grams...which lasts me ages). So worth talking to someone who knows what is best for you!

Kiwiatheart - congrats on a good scan!

Have been to the beach fishing today. DS was exhausted when we came home and went straight to bed an hr ago. Having some quiet time while DH unpacks all his stuff.

We went out for his work do last night and had a fantastic meal. Made sure I chose some lighter meals so that I could fit dessert!

Enjoy the rest of your weekends!

Congrats on the good scan Kiwiatheart!

DS has been really tired and tetchy the past couple of days. Waking at 5am but has a cuddle, tucked back in then back off to sleep. Yawn! Think he's still getting over his cold.

Planting the vege garden today - it's so hot! Had our first paddle in the lake yesterday (DH swum but A and I just paddled our feet!) Getting Thai takeaways for tea tonight as it's my Birthday Eve! Yay.

How do I join the facebook group?

Morning everyone,

Hope you all had lovely weekends

I was big and brave and put our Christmas Tree up on Saturday morning. Thought DS would give me a hand but he wasnt even interested in what I was doing lol. Still not really interested in anything except the lights!

Definitely not brave enough to put any pressies under though - we went to some friends for dinner on Friday night and he decided to help himself to their pressies

Isnt it nice to see our tickers slowly creeping forward?

Have a great day everyone!

Our Xmas tree looks very sad without presents under it....

We shot into town at 5pm on Fri to get a real tree from St Johns, and it sat, undecorated, for a night. We did it up on Sat morning before driving to Auckland. Had MIL's family Xmas yesterday and drove home afterwards. DD is surprisingly perky given that we didn't get home til 10ish!

I think I might have to go through the stash of DD's Xmas pressies and sort out which ones are Santa pressies and which ones are from us, then wrap them up and put them under the tree - then it'll feel like Xmas is nigh!

I LOVE Christmas so freakin' much!

I love Xmas too. We have a fake Xmas tree this year coz we are going away on boxing day. It isn't decorated yet might get the big boys to do it today.

Finished the big Xmas shopping yesterday, got the older boys an xbox 360 kinects. I'm afraid they'll be disappointed because they have to share, but then again they are old enough to get how expensive it is too. Just got to do the Santa stocking fillers.

I'm finally feeling good again! Nausea has just about disappeared, just in time for Xmas.

I was telling DH I'm sure that I was bigger with my last bub by this stage, I got out the photo log and sure enough at 16weeks I looked pregnant. I think I just look a little over weight this time. And you can't even tell I'm pregnant most of the time.

I love christmas too, despite the cost and overcrowded malls.

I hope my nausea goes by xmas, though, considering what it could be like I have nothing to really complain about.

In the mornings I'm pretty sure I'm getting braxton hicks! My tummy goes really hard and pokes out just below my belly button, feels so weird.

Man it's been cold here, not that I mind, but it is summer you would think it would be warmer.

Midwife appt. tomorrow, can't wait to hear bubs heartbeat. It's slowly sinking in that we're going to have another baby... Charlie will be 6 in April, sometimes I can't even believe I have a 6 year-old haha.
