Topic: Lochia Posted: 16 September 2008 at 9:04pm |
It's 10 days since i gave birth and my lochia is still quite heavy - i have gone through 3-4 pads today. It isnt a bright red, more like a light red/brown colour, but it is still quite heavy. How long does it normally last?

I think I was heavier than that for about 3 weeks, then one week of lighter bleeding, then it stopped, except for two random days about a fortnight later. The books say up to 6 weeks is normal.

My lochia was still very heavy at about 2 weeks and so I spoke to my midwife about it and she told me to go into the hospital to have it checked out. In the end I was put on abs and the lochia lightened almost immediately.

Mine was heavy for a full 3 weeks, then it started to lighten up and stop.

Mine was quite heavy for 2-3 weeks and then lightened up for another 3 weeks. I hate that mine lasts for so long, it's really annoying. If you're concerned you should mention it to your midwife, everyone differs and if she has any concerns she can help you out.

Mine was really heavy for 3 weeks, then like a heavy period for another 3 weeks, so 10 days is definitely normal, but like others said if you're worried speak to your m/w, that's what she's there for.

2-3 weeks and then sort of on and off - ie if I went out for a walk without a pad, I was in trouble!

Mine has been 1-2 weeks really heavy, then lighter, now more like a discharge that is sort of light yellow, saw my MW yesterday and she said thats normal.

Mine was heavy for at least a couple of weeks, altho seemed to get lighter after each baby, it was shortest with Chiara. I had retained products after the gremlins and was still bleeding on and off in quite heavy bursts at 5 weeks PP then I randomly passed a huge chunk of membranes and it stopped immediately.
