Topic: My longies worked!!!     Posted: 21 May 2008 at 11:25am |

I'm so excited!! Leo wore his longies last night over his DB fitted - no cover - and they kept him dry!!! I still can't believe they actually worked! I was so nervous last night putting him to bed without a waterproof cover over his nappy, and fully expected to find him in a wet bed this morning, but he woke happy & dry! I was amazed when I took his longies off and found the nappy sopping underneath - what amazing stuff wool is!

   Oh wow that's awesome!

As much as I rave about how awesome wool is, I have never used longies over a nappy... pocket or fitted! (Just a DB merino cover over a pocket)
So glad to know that I am not giving out false information

I think it's the perfect winter night time solution because I no longer have to worry about trying to find PJ pants to fit over his big cloth bottom! I ended up lanolizing them twice just using solid lanolin, after the second soak (overnight) I could feel a difference, like a slight stickiness that I hadn't noticed after the first treatment. It obviously did the trick!

Yay I'm glad to hear that. I just finished mine so I'll have to lanolise them now

   Ok here are mine

The original plan was to make a blue pair for Jack and a white pair for Caprece thinking 2 balls would be enough and one side I accidentally cast on 3 less stitches which is why the seam is so lopsided. But apart from that I think they turned out real well

Mine took me about 2-3wks, knitting a couple of hours most nights (in front of the TV ) after the kids went to bed. I started my second pair on Thursday last week and I'm 1/3 way through my second half, so they are coming along quicker.

It took me bl**dy ages lol but the second half I started last Saturday and finished it last night so technically it should of only taken me a week and a half.

Your longies look great Rachel - I love the 2-tones! What does Jack think of them? Leo laughs every time he sees his - I'm not sure if he's laughing cause he thinks they look rediculous or because he loves them so much

Jack only tried them on that one time and he had nothing under them so thought it was funny. I'm waiting for them to dry to really test them out
