Topic: My Story Posted: 11 August 2007 at 2:55pm |
I have been meaning to write about this for so long, I kinda briefed it a bit,
My story
It was October 1998 and I was only 21, when the doctor told me I had stage 2 ovarian cancer, The best way to treated was hard and fast, which meant I would be left with a 1 in 10 chance of ever conceiving naturally. The 1st round of treatment worked and there was no signed of cancer left.
A year had gone by and I was happily married to my then boyfriend James, we both new that TTC would be difficult and could take some time so at 23 we jumped on the TTC bandwagon.
24 cycles later we found our self with an IVF specialist, preparing for what lay ahead. The first cycle of IVF worked, and we were over the moon, awaiting the arrival of our little boy, but sadly at 21 weeks I was in a freak car accident and went into labour. Lucas James Long was born sleeping on the 1st of July 2003.
After that we decided to put TTC on hold for a year or two, but then In 2004 I found out I was pregnant, and bubs was conceived naturally, again it was never meant to be, we lost bubs at 9 weeks. From then on I never thought I would ever have a baby of my on.
One day after work James introduced me to a family who had adopted a little girl from China and as they say the rest is history. I fell in love with the idea of adopting and with the support of my family 3 years later we are bringing our own daughter, Mia Grace home. I have to say even though adoption is a hard process I would recommend it to anyone.
