thats fine too, was going to put him in full time cloth when new bubba comes along to help with toilet training and finiances, and since I will be home all day, whats another load of washing...will try them on him when he is well again. Thanks, Aimee.

I'm using flat nappies, and have since coming home from hospital. I don't find them too much of a hassle at all - another load of washing per day, but that's all.
Amelia seems much happier in them that disposables, and
we are using the Johnsons nappy liners which draw the moisture away from her skin. If she gets a bit rashy (very, very rarely) I just use a bit of Weleda Baby Oil on her and it's gone the next day (or sooner).
I never got quite into them, just tried it once and didn't have a proper cover so Han was soaked within minutes. But I think for a newbie I'd go with flats and covers or prefolds and covers.
You definitely have to have the covers! I'm using the ones with velcro on the sides, which are good, but after 12 weeks a couple of them aren't so 'sticky' anymore and she occasionally manages to get the nappy half off
