Hi all
Just wondering what people would suggest as a small gift to a friend who's just had a baby?

You can just get a nice stretch n grow or a little blanket with a small soft toy. It doesn't need to be much. Throw in some flowers for mum and ur done!

Bibs! Good ones, with the PUL backing (not plastic but like plastic and they can be tumble dried). Silly Billyz or Mum2Mum, something like that. They're about $7-8 each. Cheap bibs are cr*p.
If you want to give the gift to your friend and not the baby, maybe some smellies, homemade baking or frozen meals? Practical is often better than stuff you think would be cool IYKWIM.

Silly Billyz bibs are the best ever.
Also big wraps - Mother's Choice ones are nice and stretchy.
As a mum, my fave pressies were dinner and home baking

I found it awesome when people got Daniel a cute item of clothing that wasn't in newborn size. We got stuff given to us in 00 and 0 sizes which was great as we already had more than enough newborn and 000 size.
Also anything to make life easier was great like meals, or just the offer to come and vaccum the house or something simple like that.

I agree with Stacey about the bigger sized clothing, also I got given a few packs of disposable nappies which you can't go wrong with in the early days.
Bibs and wraps are good too.

A photo frame and a gift voucher for camera house or similar photo printing place.
I also agree with the frozen meals and/or home baking.

Bigger size clothes or 6m+ toys.
Hooded Towels, bibs or a night light
For a more expensive gift:
My sisters birthday was very soon after her son was born so for her I got her some pampering vouchers with a 6 month expiry date. She used them at about the 4 month stage when bubs was big enough to be left with dad for a couple of hours and was very grateful for them as she said it was the best present she recieved as it gave her a chance to relax and spend some time on herself.( Haircut, facial, pedicure and massage)
