I agree. When they implemented the plastic bag tax in Ireland most of the shops stopped doing branded bags.

Cuppatea that's awesome that you can recycle so much plastic.

I fully agree....it's a total joke that they are sponsoring such a thing when they have now backed out of something that could make such a difference.

Haha, yes that is true. That's also true for labels on clothes....but I probably don't have any label clothes anyway hehe.

I'm not really bothered about the charging of bags, but to be honest if I'm gunna be charged for them I generally just wont use them, When shopping at pak 'n' save I generally just don't get them, most of the time because I forget, I have a collection of reusable bags but I usually forget those too lol, and when I forget them and am shopping somewhere where I don't have to pay for bags I use the plastic bags. If I am going into a store for a few things I never bother with bags, I'm that person that you see trying to juggle holding like 10 items lol then just dump them in the car.

I think what frustrates me is not so much the supermarkets, but the retail outlets that insist on putting every single purchase into a plastic bag without asking if you need one first? I work in retail and unless a customer is buying more than a couple of items I always ask if they need a bag, funnily enough probably 7 out of 10 of these people will say no when normally they would just take it bag and all... hehe my little bit to help save the environment

Lol sorry I rambled good and proper just then huh! But my 2c!

In Scandinavia they use paper bags. Much better idea. The bags get recycled back into bags - neat huh lol but then of course you get kickbacks for having your own vege garden - we should get that here...
