Do you ever feel like people just arent listening to you? Since he was about 2 weeks old, Ollie has been grunting, groaning and straining to poo (stop reading now if you dont like poo!!) So - I mentioned this to my midwife, who said it was completely normal and not to worry about it.
Its been getting steadily worse for the little man, and in the last 2 weeks, he has been screaming out in pain, and is clearly not happy - and this process can go on for hours (as in he starts "pushing" at 4am, and the grunting, groaning, straining and crying goes on for hours!) so I mentioned it to my GP - nothing to worry about apparently....told that he was clearly not constipated as his poo was still soft and runny! So I am pretty worried as he is clearly in pain and its quite distressing to watch it and know I cant do anything to help! We have tried to give him water but he isnt that fussed on taking it.
This afternoon he did finally manage to push out a hard poo. His poor little face turned purple trying to get it out.....it was about the size of a golf ball and had blood in it. Not nice at all. Promptly followed by lots of soft poo!
So - my plunket nurse has just been and I mention it to her and get the same response...pretty normal, but no poo shouldnt have blood in it, have I tried giving him water? Useless really. I am telling people that my baby is in pain and no-one seems to be listening. So I ring the GPs surgery and talk to the nurse....get similar suggestions, water, massage his tummy etc but I think I finally managed to get the message through that he is in pain, so am going back to the GPs tomorrow.
I am so frsutrated that I have been trying to tell people for weeks that my baby had a problem in that department and no-one was really listening. Feel like I was getting fobbed off as over-anxious mummy. Arrghhhhh...
Sorry poo related rant over!!
