Topic: Obsesssions! Posted: 13 April 2007 at 3:14pm |
Just wondering how many other kids are absolutely obsessed with things at the moment! Jake is obsessed with horses, and Shrek.
The horse thing is getting ridiculous - he keeps nicking my credit card (national bank) and putting it in bed with him, cuddling it and saying "awww".
as for Shrek, everytime smashmouth come on the radio station now, he runs for the dvd player. everyday "we watch shrek?". i used to love that movie! Am going to the warehouse tomorrow and buy Shrek 2 so at least we can have a little bit of variety.

liz gabriel was obsessed with shrek too - but he didnt like the 2nd move as much and still preferred to watch the original. his fav movie at the mo is Brum, try watching 15 episodes of that in row...
his obsessions come and go - for a while there it was his animals, they got carted around in a bag everywhere. then there was batman, now it is a postman pat puzzle.

Shopping, Andrew goes shopping for Coke (don't ask why ), he hops on his ride on car and goes around the house then comes back with his "coke" and money. Also Bob the Builder.
Andrew has an obsession of holding fluff in his fingers - it drives me nuts.

Madam was a huge Shrek fan at around 3yrs, she's got both movies here and at mum's. Husband even went as far as buying the most hideous Shrek doll for $10 from Kmart, he's now buried in the bottom of her teddy storage thingee (shrek not the husband! and she hasn't watched either movie for quite some time.
Her new fave is Princess Diaries 2.

My DH is into insects in a big way as well. Recently I asked him to remove a cochroach from our bedroom wall so he did, but then he wanted to know how long it would last in a jar of water with no air! So he left it in my kitchen cupboard!

Tains is obsessed with pulling the plugs out - constatnly. when i vacuum. have discovered though, that while very very annoying when I am vacuuming, extremely funny when someone else is.
Lu, Taine was also obsessed turning the tv and sky on and off - we have el;ectrical tape over the buttons now and he touches less....not stopped, just found somehting more annoying to occupy his time,

Jack loves planes if he hears one he stops what hes doing and points and goes ba (his word for anything he doesn't know the real word to). Also flicking switches as well and pretending to vacum.

Hannah is obsessed with my underwear. It's driving me mad. When we have people over she'll trot off and be quiet for a moment or two then come galloping back in with her thumb jammed in her mouth and toting along a pair of my underwear! So embarrassing!!!
I've given up trying to prevent it totally and just try to make sure to have clean underwear lying around. I'd be mortified if she came out after rifling through my washing
pile and we had people over! ahh!
Hrmmm.. and a slightly more normal toddler obsession (if with a bizarre twist)... Hannah is obsessed with Thomas the Tank Engine. But not the cartoon/books/character. Just obsessed with trains and they are all called Thomas. Now she has started spotting Thomas when there are absolutely no trains or related paraphenalia in sight. I'm a little worried about this.

Baileys not so bad now but for a while there he was soooooo obsessed with Thomas the tank engine!!! and especially the movie "thomas and the magic railway" i know all the words to that movie off by heart!!!!
He also has the biggest collection of thomas battery engines and dye cast engines with all the tracks!!!!
His other obsession are the little hotwheel cars which DH bought him some tracks for so hes got all these (what he calls) hoop-a-loops set up all over the show and cars comming out our ears!!! he also HAS to sleep with his trains and cars!!! if we try to take them out of his hand when hes asleep he wakes up and gets angry so we give them back and hes straight back to sleep!!

This is a funny thread Makes me remember the funny things Christopher was obsessed with when he was little. The number of videos that got "lost" in our house when he was little. There was the Ace Ventura Pet Detective video that was the absolute worst!! And then the Mrs Doubtfire one. He wasn't really into little kiddy stuff as a toddler.
He was obsessed with Thomas too Nikki and did what Hannah is doing - all trains are Thomas. It's cute to remember these things now that he is older. He was such a funny little kid. And with little Hot Wheel cars Baysmum (he still collects those) and whenever one of us was lying down he would use our bodies as a track for driving cars all over and would move body parts to get the right angles and stuff. It was so cute.

The only other thing I can say is music. Pretty much anything goes. She doesnt like tv or the kiddies shows at all but put music on and she is happy as can be.
And then all her books. Specially the two her grandma bought her and sent over for her birthday. Tommy pop up books in Afrikaans. I know these two books by hard now.
