oo I'd forgotten about Oliver - I think that was on our list last time. Love Marco RJ!! Although obviously that's not an option for us .

Isn't it a pain when friends/family use up your names? I'd love to have a Noah but that's Cian's best friend! Sophie was our top girl's name for a while, but now that's my niece's name.

Maybe Luca?

3rd time - I LOVE the dinner "snap" idea! that's so cool!

So what do you do now USA? I'm sorry you are having a hard time

I have no idea of names, we only had one name last time for a boy and two names for a girl but neither of the girls names we were fussed with but was so sure DS was a boy (we didn't know) that we were not too worried. thank goodness he was a boy lol.

Our names are all planned for now, not telling anyone tho cause as soon as we did last time we changed our minds and people made us not like them!!

We are still BFeeding, DS is 10 months. Hoping to let him wean naturally, would love to tandem feed and I can see it happening cause he still boobs 5 or 6 times a night and all day. And eats not alot else cause we do BLW. Would love to feed him through my labour, apparently its amazing natural relief!

oh no hugs USA.

My DD was in NICU for 3 weeks and she never got the hang of BF so i expressed for 5 months for her, i had such a big frozen store she had EBM until she was 6 months.

DS was a mixture of BF and EBM for months then i managed to get him exclusively BF and he fed until he was 2 weeks past his 1st birthday.

I'm hoping to BF again this time but not too worried about how long for, not going to stress about 'having' to BF, happy mummy = happy baby = happy family.

I never combo fed, but only bc I was scared I would dry up. We did use EBM though, esp when I went back to work. I'll know this time to bank a whole lot more, bc last time I dried up almost immediately. We had a couple of weeks of reverse cycle feeding (where baby sleeps all day at daycare bc I wasn't there to feed, then hung off my boobs all night while I was available -really great when first back at work ), then it all went to poo. Where BF is concerned, no judgment here, it is really tough at the start! I "failed" massively first time round, got an abcess which required general anastetic (sp) and that killed that. But I had no idea what I was doing and 20 years ago didn't know who to ask. But even without problems, no-one tells you how much TIME it takes you out of circulation!

Man I feel awesome today, swapped sleep-ins with dP (he usually gets the saturday) and am only just up.

Loving some of the names you guys are coming up with. Theodore is quite lovely, but a bit US president for me. But maybe Theo. Much harder with subsequent kids when the names have to 'match' the first kid's name eh!! EG. I really like Dustin, but with an Austin? haha nope.

Riley for a girl? Ripley? Only bc Signourney Weaver was so strong and cool in Alien and that was her name - is that a bad reason to name a child!? I still like Violet (Vy) and even Mary, DP's sister's name. Tilly is really cute, but there's a baby on Shortland Street with that name. Same with Emma, gorgeous name but was the baby on Friends. I need to watch less tv.

USA, I hope you got some rest overnight if nothing else, and hopefully they'll sort things for you tonight. You must be really ready to go home and start grieving without all these worries.

I like Oliver too, but it's always in the most popular names lists. Have just googled least popular names and there are some great ones in there!

Don't judge me, but here comes indian leftovers for breakfast...

I bf ollie only 5 months, had a low supply and nothing I did helped increase it. But was happy with that. Then fed seb till 13, went away for one weekend and dried up that quick, otherwise prob would've fed longer. Bky, there was never much point trying to express for me,.same as you lucky to get 50ml, especially off left side. So when needed just used formula. That's the plan again this time.

Got up early today and went to.see hot air balloons in masterton, kids loved it. Everyone tired and grumpy now though!

Yeah, oliver wasn't that popular the year I named him,.2008, but the following year and those thereafter went crazy! I was a bit brassed off, but in saying that haven't come across any other ollies in our group of friends or day care, so that's all good. Sebastian is a but further down, so pleased with that!

Marco very cool, love Sylvie, liked that one during preg#2. Lots to ponder huh.

Have you told many people? We have told parents, brothers and a few very close friends! So hard to not say!

I dont see anymore wrong with supplementary feeding, but if you intend to just breastfeed for the most part, I would recommend it til you are fully established. Some would say that happens at 6 weeks but to me it is about when you know your bubba is 'into it' as in preferes to breastfeed and is possibly on solids too and perhaps only have someone else give them a bottle. Thats how I tried to work it here, and thats just because it was soo important to me that she was breastfed. Its not for everyone , I didnt have to go back to work so I had the choice, if I did go back to work I would have had to use donated Milk or formula. Eats on feets is always an option if your supply is low and you 'must' use breast milk
Having a child is a personal choice , so is what you choose to do with your boobs, and I support mums who do the best they can for their babes, in all aspects of being a mum

What I will say is if you intend on breastfeeeding, go to a class. I did for number 2, and it was soo helpful, there are loads of professionals, and they can be great, but other mums are fantastic!
It may be natural for some, and even easy for others, but no matter how you view it, it takes commitment but gives fab rewards too :)

OK off my high horse now ;)

Glad you all like Marco and Sylvie hehe <3 feel free to 'steal' them Im not 'that way inclined' except for you Nita haha

Bit of a long story here...

Last night i was told the misoprostol would work overnight and if it didnt i would be given more this morning and if nothing still happened i would be booked in for a d&c on monday.

A dr just visited me and said they want to send me home today and have me come back in three days if i havent passed anything. They would give me more miso then and i would come back in seven days if i still havent passed anything and then be booked in for a d&c. Meanwhile i cant work or do any strenuous activity! Im nauseas all the time so ill be put on 4 different meds. My gyno last wednesday said i could go in for a d&c yesterday if there was no heartbeat, and there wasnt!

Im so over this. Im in pain again, i asked for meds 45mins ago and the nurses never bring me anything unless i ask at least three times. I hate this so much!!!

ABs, thank god for the correction lol!!

Raspberry, I'm with you, you do your best in your own circs, and no-one should judge. BM is best if if you can BF, but there are lots of reasons people can't or struggle. And I totally second your advice to any first-timers or mums who have struggled to go to the classes before you have bubs. I found the Waitakere hospital class (run by la leche league) invaluable. Looking back, learning to BF when you're exhausted after birth, baby is starving and it's all urgent is not the right time. It's not like we'd expect to learn any other essential lifeskill at that time eh!

Took DS to library this morning and wished I started a little bit earlier teaching him about 'library voice', he yeehaaed and ran all over the place heh heh

USA, that's tough. Can you push for D&C and bring some resolution for yourself? More waiting sounds rough..?

talking about breast feeding - Im a bit of a milk cow and leaked something wretched (could not go out without packing a couple of spare shirts for me..) we used the peapod washable breast pads and while they were good , I'd have to change them constantly and they did not wash well - still smelt of off milk

I was all nature mum vibes last time going the reusable route but this time around im not thinking im going to be so fussed and so am happy for disposable ones if thats the best but reusable would be more cost effective. Can any one recommend a good brand??

for the disposable nappies I saw a good deal on trademe -79 nappies for $20 encase anyone was after any (had bigger sizes for those with bubbas still in them now too )

I leak constantly when bf- and have a huge leak with the letdown when feeding from the other breast- I used the advent breastmilk collector cups when at home- You stick one in your bra when feeding off the other side, then can collect the milk- I would either freeze it, or chuck it,...but saved breastpads, and was cleaner and no smell- found them excellent. I have tried soooo many brands of washable breastpads but nothing would ever last past one let down so I had to use disppsables- wearing them for a year! Ive used cloth nappies with both kids so its always felt wrong buying breastpads but nothing else worked. I used the purplke box ones from packnsave- cant remeber the brand now, they have day time and night time ones in the box and I found them the best.

Ive been bleeding today- have spent most of the day in bed resting up- some cramping, but the bleeding seems to have slowed a bit. Kinda thought that at nearly 11weeks we were past the most risky weeks for mc.

oh no Kellz , I hope it's not a serious thing. I had a massive bleed with DS at about 17 weeks - midwife said it was a nicked placenta (not sure how that happens) but it was quite frightening

breast fed little man till he was 23 months and he self weaned then (thank you daddy giving him chocolate milkshake and ice cream) so need to sort something out!! I also used to let down when somebody elses baby started crying like at the mall. It was all kinds of tragic! Little man used to feed to sleep which was a bad habit but it worked for us and he had bad ear troubles so when he was feeling poorly he would just stay on them all day using them as a soother (also terrible habit!) which was possible why I leaked so bad? I dont know

Those things arent terrible habits if they are working for all of you! Comforting your baby and settling him with love and comfort cant be wrong!!
I bf Aiden til just before his second birthday- I weaned him to get pregnant after ttc for 8 months- it worked and we concieved this baby a week later!

I dont know what to think of this bleeding. TMI- we BD last night- then this monring when I wiped there was pink with streaks of red blood- but after I had been up a while- filled 2 pantyliners with red blood. Then went back to bed, and its slowed down, but prob because Ive been lying flat. Was ment to be working 2.30-11pm but called in sick, and will do the same tomorrow too if its not stopped.

Kellz, that sounds scarey, glad you are resting up. Let's hope it settles down quickly e.

Breast pads - I recommend the johnsons ones. Bpads aren't nearly as evil as disp nappies (which I use btw), they're just paper. and of course in the early days, the cloth nappies are great breast pads/wraps too.

Hen, I would wean for a choc milkshake too :-)

Raspberry, that eats on feets, is that feeding your baby someone else's milk? I had a quick peek online and that's what it looks like. Are the donors vetted for hepatitis etc., or is the milk frozen or how does that all work? One of my friends BF my first son when I asleep once, and I wasn't much impressed, would have preferred she'd asked I guess. Anyone else find that near the line?

Im down with donated milk, if my supply starts to crap out through pregnancy, which is likely a friend is donating milk to me. No screening officially but you can request it done I guess. I would be grump if someone fed my babe and it wasnt a necessecity but if I had to leave them for even a couple of hours and they became detressed its enough of an emergency to me. I'd personally rather someone else fed my babe than him be given formula.

You organise the milk exchange, generally its frozen. A friend recieves milk from someone an hour away every couple of months she gets a freezer full, just enough to give her wee boy a bottle or 2 a day as her milk supply shat itself when he was small.
