kaz Cooke was good for the pregnancy but some of her info in Kidwrangling was totally off base so it really put me off the rest of her book and made me question if there was any research done at all.
I personally love the What to Expect books (make sure you get a NZ/AU version) and anything by Tracy Hogg or Supernanny (Jo can't remember her last name now)....both very similar styles that we have found work very well for us.

I use to work at whitchoulls/London Bookshop when I was a student...and was a book buyer so occationally flicked thru these books and I read some parts of some books (for customer service reasons).....and though Oh yah....but never actually thought of buying one!
I am really into books but never thought of buying a parenting one! Gosh I hope Zaara turns out ok!

Raising boys is great
What to expect when expecting made me quite paranoid
The nz pregnancy book is quite good too.

I've got "Minus Nine to One - An honest Mothers Diary" by Jools Oliver (Jamies wife). It's very light hearted and I found it really easy to read.

I don't know Roksana - Zaara looks pretty OK to me so far
I'd love to read Jools Olivers book - have read excerpts from it and it's had some great reviews.

I have read "Raising Girls", "How to talk so your kids will listen and listen so they will talk", "Of course I love you, now go to your room", "Kids, they're worth it!" and the Child of our Time book (based on the documentary series). I think that all of them were really good reads- I just took out of them the things I thought were good/helpful and ignored the stuff I didn't.
The only book I read I really thought was a waste of paper was Gina Fords Contented Baby book- I know some people swear by it but it so wasn't my cup of tea!

Yeah people seem to really love her or hate her- my antenatal coffee group used to get into some quite heated debates about that book! Some followed it religiously and others used it to line the cat litter tray Hehe
