Hey for all you ladies that have had more than one baby did your labour start the same? Did you have more niggles or anything before hand? Also how long was each labour and how big was each bub.

I had a show at 35 weeks with Jack so I was just wondering if I should expect the same or not.

Hi RachandJack.

My 2nd labour was a lot better than my first. My waters started leaking at 38 wks with my first but I thought I was having my show. It wasn't for another 5 days that I started having contractions & then was induced. It was a long day & baby was sitting posterior & after pushing for an hour he wasn't coming so was taken to the operating theatre & prep'd for c-section. First they tried forceps & managed to turn & pull him out with those thankfully!!

Second time I woke during the night at 39 wks with contractions 20 mins apart. Those stopped after a couple of hours. The following morning (24 hrs later) I woke at 6am with contractions & was in labour all day. I finally went into hospital at 8pm, was only 4 cms & asked for an epidural (had one with my first). Then at 2:20 am I was ready to push & started pushing at 3 am & 33 mins later she was born! No intervention that time which was brilliant!

I'm now onto my 3d pg & worried as my MW said 3rd births can be similar to the first!!!

Oh & my first, a boy, was 8lbs 15oz & my 2nd, a girl was 8lbs 8oz - both born 1 week before EDD.

i'm sorry i can't really help much rach, jack was elective c/s at 39wks. with charli i had a show on sat and went into labour on the mon at 8days overdue.
so it can vary i guess but i don't really know

with weights, jack was 5lbs 12oz and charli was 7lbs 6ozs but one was a week early and the other was a week late so i guess they would've been about the same if they were born on time

not much help really am i

My labour with Ella was long and I had a lot of warning before it got started. I had a show early in the morning and then regular niggles all day until labour started seriously in the afternoon. She was posterior and wasn't born until 6ish the next day. 17 hours from when I went to Birthcare to her birth.
With Benjy I woke up with irregular niggles that were so pitiful and irregular all day I wasn't even convinced it was 'real' until 3 hours before he was born. I had no show or anything.
It was a fast labour, midwife recorded it from 7.30 when I decided he was actually coming till 10.50 when he was born. He was about a kilo bigger and lots longer than Ella was.
I can't believe you're 35 weeks already! It doesn't seem like that long ago that you were finding out!

My labours were very different. no real niggles with first until contractions actually started, then had show about 6 hours into labour and waters were broken by MW. It lasted 19 very long hours.
Second labour I had false labours for abour 2 weeks leading upto it, some lasting 3 or so hours. When labour did start, the only difference was when I had a shower the contractions didn't stop. Also it progressed a lot quicker and was all over and done with within 7 hours.
Oh and I had a show this time abotu 3 days earlier but again water was broken by MW

Paris was born just over 38 wks, i had a show 5 days before and some niggly braxton hicks over that weekend, but just got up and waters broke..contractions started a hour after that and had her 5 hours later... we got to the hospital in time to push, so didn't have anything for pain. took 2 hours of pushing though, complete with stitches! she was 7lb 3 oz

Ayja i had no show at all that i remember but had false labour about a week before in the middle of the night, mike went and got mum to babysit and everything.. was just about to leave to go to hospital and hello, it started to taper off so i got into bed to catch some zz's woke the next morning and it was all gone. but with her when i did go into labour again i just woke up in the middle of the night, with some niggles, first they were just little niggles of a bit of period type pain then kinda got a bit closer together but still lasting as long as a sneeze, lol.. but it went from nothing to something very quickly after about an hour and a half, so off to hospital where she was born half an hour later, after they broke my waters for me was only 10 mins to get to 10cm from 7cm., and only 10 mins of pushing after that.. compared to 2 hours last time.. Although i am sure the immense pressure from the waters still being intact was what made ayja's birth so darn ouchy i am kinda glad that my waters didn't break with her while i was still at home, otherwise i bet she would have been born at home, not the hospital.. am also glad i didn't leave it any longer to go up like my midwife had said when i rung her..   ayja was a little dot at 6lb 2 oz... but then she was just under 38 weeks..all up from wheni woke with those tiny niggles, to having her in my arms was 3 hrs 35 mins. she was in a hurry to meet us.

Short answer: no

All my labours started 2 days before my due date but all in different ways. Hannah was: show, contractions, waters, labour; Briona was: contractions, show, ARM; Krystiana was: show, hind water leak, contractions, ARM.

I have really long first stage of labour and probably always will have apparently But my second stage went from 3 hours to 1 1/2 hours with my #2 and #3 (I had an E c/s for #1). Surprisingly, I actually had a far better labour with #3 and felt heaps more in control (and that was even with less pain relief )

Weight at birth: Hannah 7lb 3oz; Briona 8lb 4oz; Krystiana 8lb exactly. I gained much the same weight each pregnancy but with Krystiana I outgrew the full-term maternity clothes I had used for Hannah and Briona at 6mos and had to buy another size

Conor was induced, I had a few niggles, then my waters broke and five hours later he was born via vontouse. He was 9lb 9oz.

Nyah I had lots of niggles for a couple of hours then full on contractions then waters broke and hour later she was born. 9lb 6oz.

I much preferred delivering and labouring with Nyah, I didn't feel in control at all with Conor's labour.
