I work on the same lines as wrx at this stage while my own isn't here. Our 4yr old godson has grown up listening to everything we listen to and quite enjoys dancing away to all the tunes thats more what hes interested in then anything.
When he was about 2 he couldn't say t properly so when he saw a truck it was f.ck which i had told dp about but he didn't process properly until he heard him say it one day. We all swear around him and his little brother and sister, including his parents and he to my knowledge has never used it and if he has has been told it was an inappropriate word for a child to use and probably got a hiding at that.
I personally believe the more sheltered a child is brought up can lead to a more rebellious teenager. DP was brought up extremely christian, parents are pastors and he before we met was into everything, drugs, sleeping with girls from 13 etc. His old churches minister got pregnant out of wedlock and she wouldn't of had any sex talk or anything with her parents, it would have been assumed that it wasn't happening.
I have been raised in quite a liberal house, as soon as dp started staying at my place for a night mum booked me in at doctor to get me on birth control, and yes we are having a child out of wedlock now, but that is 8yrs later and we have been living together on our own for 4 of those years. Am only pregnant because I forgot to get my birth control when he was away whooops but we were wanting it. So I think it all comes down to the person you are and not controlling your kids too much.
I personally grew up listening to the beetles as mum and dad were 35 when they had their first kid so definitely their generation, and come on lucy in the sky with diamonds, everyone knows what that is.
