She wants a somewhat unique name or possibly a moari name...

There's a lady in the pregnancy thread who suggested Nikau for a boy I think its an awesome name.

Do they like transliterations? Mikaere - Michael etc. If so, there's a Maori dictionary online that you can get the transliterations for a lot of traditional names.

I'm no help on unusual/unique names though - not my cup of tea at all.

My girls all have Maori middle names...

Te Irirangi Marama - the point where heaven and earth meets
Anahera - angel
Waimarie - peaceful waters
Ngaroma - the deluge/flood

I also like Kahurangi (precious), Te Rangi Ataahua (beautiful sky), Kaia (leader), Rangimarie (beautiful sky)...

Having absolutely no knowledge of Maori names at all this one automatically makes me think this NIWA which then automatically makes me think of NUMA which is from Clive Cusslers books.

DH's friend's middle name is Kirimihite (sorry not sure if I spelled it right) - Maori for Christmas. I thought that was cool!

I have a friend with a son Nikau too...very popular at moment!!

I had a weird dream a while back that I had twin boys conceived at the beach and called one Mata and one rangi LOL!

I love the name Wikitoria for a girl...sorry OTT
