lol I love all this talk about Twilight, I barely know what it is hehe

NZlisajo- Caoimhe  can be pronounced Kwee-va too so maybe that's your hubbys neices name? I do like it very much but love Aibhlinn too...we may end up going with our third choice lol (Roisin).

Maebe- too funny we had the same short list! lol I love hearing other Irish nales cos there's not many here (obviously I guess). When I lived there though I was in a constant state of 'oh how do I say your name?' lol

lol Azza I also have an Emmett though im a big twilight fan and knew that when i gave him that name. he is the big strong one.

i actually wanted to name him jacob but his middle name was gonna be edward so jacob edward umm no. but i decided i wanted his middle name to start with J (coz mine does)and be a name thats is in the family, one of my uncles middle name is joseph, which was one of my mums (and said uncle) uncles name. and i decided i loved the name Emmett coz it was different but not weird.

I think the name Emmett is great - and i dont think of twilight at all. I think of Keeping up Apperances though, the young man who lives next door.

Hi All,

Great thread. For boy, I like long-ish, traditional but not hugely popular names, but I'm struggling a wee bit ... all I've got is:

Sebastian
Nathaniel
Nicholas

I like that they can all be shortened easily, and they're unlikely to embarrass a kid at school.

For girls, I love some of the French/Italian sounding names, like:

Gabrielle
Adrianna
Isabeau (French version of Isabelle)
Calista

We have a Lachlan and Tessa, and they both have 2 middle names - a name from each side of the family. If this one is a girl we think she will be Sasha, no reason except we both like it! And we thought we would call a boy Sullivan but have both gone off it a little bit, so we now have no idea what this one will be if it turns out to be a boy - but still have lots of time - thank goodness, we didn't have a boys name picked put that we really loved when I was preg with Tess, so it was nice when she turned out to be a girl!

Love seeing everyones names and thoughts

Wow Aunty Anna you are going to have a tough time picking names when you have a little one.

I really like Morgan for a girl, but dp thinks its boys only. But i dont like it as a boys name, i think its to girly.

I also like Addison & Lucy is growing on me too.

Boys names are so hard, DP likes one boys name only which is Nathan but i dont really like it.

Awesome list Aunty Anna - love the alternatives.

Especially since i was dead set on CHARLOTTE but other people seem to think its such a brilliant name that EVERYONE is calling their baby Charlotte and i really want to avoid the "Charlotte A, Charlotte B" situation in school. Sulk, sulk, sulk!

Names i still enjoy: Connor, Harper, Ethan, Dylan

I wonder if the release of The Notebook had anything to do with the popularity of Noah.

Katherine is the American spelling with Catherine being the european version at least that's my take on it. There's also Kathryn which I don't like.
If baby arrives on the 11th she'll be Catherine Poppy Sheryl.

I love Noah, but to popular at the moment.

I was just talking to dp about babies names before.

I asked what sort of names did he like, easy, popular, unique, long, short names etc. Those sorts of questions. His response was who asked those questions you either like a name or you dont lol.

Names are really hard. Does anyone have a favourite name site they use?

The name genie site is fun - you type in a name and it starts spitting out middle names that match. Its more fun then accurate though.

I'm definatly looking for boys names
