Hi ladies,

Ever since I gave birth I have had thrush. I used the 6day caneston which got rid of it for a few days but now it has come back again Is there something else that is better at getting rid of it that is safe to use while BF? I dont feel like going to the doc as to be honest I have really had enough of strange people looking at my privates.

My mum always used yoghart, she would eat a few pots a day and also, my mums friend who is a nurse said to put some plain yogart onto a pad, feels yuck but its supposed to work.

Or you could put it on a tampon and insert it up your Fufu. Just make sure it is the natural yogurt with acidophilus in it.
You can also buy the acidophilus capsules to take orally as a preventative from your pharmacy.

Yep, eat lots of natural yoghurt.

And also like Mel said, natural acidopholous yogurt up there will do the trick!

Try wearing cotton underwear too - and skirts!!!

and sleep with no undies on and have loose pants and no undies on as much as possible.

Go into the chemist and ask what you can take, if you can't take that pill you might be able to take the 3 day cream as thats a bit stronger.

I am having the same problem. Took diflucan one about 2 months ago, but I don't think it got rid of it totally, as its back again. I eat natural yoghurt everyday, but thats not helping either. Am going to have to go back to the chemist. It's so annoying!

haha now I have a great mental image of you being 'caught unawares' Topsy

My friend used Diflucan when she was BFing and it seemed to work for her. When I was pregnant and got thrush I got given the pessararies and some live acidophilus culture in tablet form (you keep them refrigerated). That did the trick for me. The pessararies seem to work better than the cream as when you get up in the night it doesn't all fall out.

When we were ttc I got thrush, and they said I couldnt use the 3 day cream cos i was trying for a baby, but she said I could use canastin for the "surface itch" so I did that.

I couldnt wear no undies I felt so gross when i had it, plus when I used the 3 days cream(before ttc) I had to wear a pad...or it would have been messy lol
I got told to make sure I wear loose cotton undies, not the tight nylon one or anything.

All the above and wear big cotton knickers and natural fibres, not too tight in the pant region. Be careful of what products you use in the bath too.
And the obvious wiping front to back to stop reinfecting yourself.
You might want to try boosting your immune system, acidofilus capsules, yoghurt, drinks and stuff, plus immune boosting vitamins and minerals might help, plenty of rest (who am i kidding you have a 2 month old), plenty of fresh fruit and veg, and a general balanced diet will help It might be worth seeing your doc, I know it gets a bit old having strange people poking around up there, but you need this to clear up and find out why you keep getting it.
I always find Difflucan a good treatmnet to get rid of it but with an long infection it might take a bit more than one tho
Hope it gets better soon
