i have a little girl who is 11 months old tomorrow and am 17 weeks pregnant.
my daughter is breastfeed and (not without much trying!!) won't take a bottle and pushes away milk (formula) from a cup, although i know she likes the taste as she will take it from a spoon. with bubs number two on the way and i'm not too keen to tandem breastfeed at this stage does anyone one have any suggestions? or been in this situation?

p.s~ i think this forum thingee is brilliant!

Hi emmakate, and welcome! I am a relative newbie as well, and have found everyone very welcoming!

I haven't got any advice for you I'm sorry, but just wanted to say welcome and good luck getting your daughter to drink her milk!

I'm currently trying to wean my 10 month old and she wont take a bottle or drink milk from a cup. I talked to plunket (and asked on here) and they said she doesn't have to have either as she has milk on her cereal and eats yoghurt's and cheese etc so is getting her calcium that way. Now I'm just slowly trying to cut out feeds. So far I've cut out all her day feeds, now it's just bedtime and EARLY morning to go.

oh and welcome to ohbaby!!!

my plan seems to be similar to yours at the moment, just trying to fit in milk in any meals i can! and the yogurt and cheese too.
good to know there is a mum and bubs in the same boat as us!!
also cut down to the morning and evening feeds as well.
will keep you posted how we go, would love to hear your progress too!

Hey yip I was in the same boat as you except I was aiming to tandem feed (but things got too painful and Jack didn't want a bar of me)

Jack actually cut his own milk feeds down and I didn't push them so he was fully weaned at 13 months but still not drinking any milk from a cup or anything, I was giving him heaps of milk and dairy in his diet so wasn't too worried. At around 14 months I started putting a wee bit of chocolate milk (just enough to make it brown) into his cups of milk and he drank it all. I then slowly made the amoutn of chocolate milk less and less until he was drinking pure milk.

Hi I was about the same, found out I was pg when Hannah was 11 1/2 mos and then again when Briona was 10 1/2 mos. I decided it was far too tiring to feed 3 of us at once so I weaned pretty quickly. Hannah wasn't interested in milk at all either so I gave her diluted cordial in a sippy cup and she liked that. I also introduced boring biscuits when she got hungry. Whenever she "snuggled in" for a feed I'd turn her right around (her back to my chest) and read her a story. After a week of that there was no more bf and I changed cordial to water and biscuits to crackers. She also snacked on cheese, that was her calcium intake (and mashed spuds!)

Much the same for Briona except I got her going on milky milos before introducing milk on it's own.
