I know that sounds like a silly question but it's rather cool here tonight and I really feel like having a hot milo before bed.... sadly it has far too much gluten in it and would make me sick.

Does anyone on here actually like hot cocoa? And how do you make it so that it doesn't taste bitter?

Yucky no! I drink Cadbury Drinking choc, it's dairy free but I have no idea about gluten?

They don't have any ingredients noted on their website (dumb!!). I'll have to check it some other time (don't have any here)

I have a container T and it says may contain traces of gluten, dairy, soy, nuts and seeds.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Well in an attempt to learn to enjoy hot cocoa, I have about 3-4 teaspoons of cocoa and sugar (each), and milky to boot!

It's actually not too bad. Probably what Mum tried to make me as a kid was 1 tsp of each. Yuk.

Mmmm, yeah, I used to love it!  Now it's just the Cadbury hot choc here, 'cause it's dairy-free.  The 'may contain traces of..." warning is an interesting one.  I ignored it once and had a very sick little girl on my hands.  But then, I think the kind of reaction you have to a food can guide you in just how strict you want to be about eliminating it.  The "manufactured in a plant that also processes a, b & c" warning is usually more of a legal issue than a health one - the company is just covering their butts... except for cases where people have a shocking peanut allergy where some will still need to avoid those foods.  What I'm saying with all this blah de blah is that it's great (no, essential) to read every food label, but try not to stress about the second kind I mentioned... otherwise you'll find yourself eating nothing but unseasoned homegrown veges!

Hmmm I hadn't been taking the "may contain traces" warning too seriously, maybe I should rethink it. It's hard being intolerant because it could affect my health sometime in the future (an hour or years), it's not as obvious as with allergies! Thankfully not as scary though!

I put the cocoa with a bit sugar in milk and heat it on the stovetop. The whole family likes it but dont make it like that too often. Maybe once every 3 or 4 months?
