I'm moving from Wellington to Christchurch within the next month and I'm due at the start of June 2009! Have to find a new midwife and was hoping for some recommendations. I'd like things to be as natural as possible, although I'd like a hospital/birthing unit birth simply because I'd rather someone else cleaned up after me LOL.

I'm very keen on having a water-birth, so someone with some experience with that would be fab. I guess I can't be too picky since they'll probably already be booked up for June, but it'd be good to have some names to begin with. Thanks in advance

This site connects you to some Christchurch midwives that deal with home births so I imagine they also do water births.

Are you planning on a home waterbirth or a hospital water birth? I know Chch womens hospital only have like 2 water birthing rooms and they play it on a first come first serve basis at the time of labour. So you can't be promise a room.

Renee Puru was my midwife and she was really into natural. I had my 2 waterbirths at burwood, its really nice there. Her whole practice do quite a few of home and water births too. Heres the link to their page midwives
I'm pretty sure they haven't updated that in a while tho as they have a few more midwives.

i was with midwives on Barrington - they were really good - i had kelly dorgan. And we were gonna have a water birth but my bub was born a month early. She was really good at getting what we wanted even though we had to be at the hospital and good at keeping it as natural as possible for us given the circumstances. Would highly recomend her.
