Rats, I'm sure I saw a thread about this with various members writing down their feeding routines but I can't find it now.   If you are one of those people can you oblige and show me your routine again and how old your baby is please?

Jonathan is 5 months old and we started solids a week ago. Tend to feed him half an hour after BF in middle of the day. He's taken to it well and takes 10-12 baby teaspoons at a time.   I thought I would need to wait around a month and introduce him to more tastes before I added a second mealtime but if he's that keen should I think about it earlier?

Yip add it in, the worst than can happen is he doesn't want it. Just follow the same rules with introducing new foods.

I think plunket say when they are eating half a cup add another in.

yeah I would try offering him a second meal around dinner time and see if takes it. We started solids when Ella was around 4 1/2 months and just over 5 months she was on 2 meals a day and then just after 6 months we introduced breakfast.

We added in caths second meal at breakfast.

If something doesn't agree with them at dinner time (nighttime feed) then you might be up half the night with an upset baby (sorry, not trying to alarm you) which is very wearying and worrying.

eta: cath is 9 mths, started solids at 6 mths, second meal introduced at 7 mths. We did bottle feed first, then solids an hour later when she was younger

You could still introduce at dinner time if you like but just introduce new food at lunch and keep them just at lunch times until you are happy they are safe and then add them into dinner as well.
We introduced the second feed about a month after the first and then he was on two solid feeds for a while as he didn't show any interest in breakfast for ages.

we went from 1 to 2 feed quite quickly as Tom is a guts. Then after about a month we went to 3 feeds. What a difference it made....think it was more the routine aspect of it.

I used to do it like this.

wake up...bottle
hour later breakfast
bottle
sleep
bottle
hour later lunch etc..

It got so confusing that in the end I opted for meals at meal times and 5 bottles spread across the day.
