There is no way he should a) expect you to give up smoking and the computer at the same time and b) to give up the computer over smoking!!!!!

Smoking is a habit that will kill you and is expensive, being on the PC for 1.5 hrs a day won't.  Plus if he's not home when you're on it, what's the problem?  I feel as long as the kids are fed and looked after, they have clean clothes on, and the dishes are clean - why can't you have some "you" time once a day, or every second day.

My only addiction is the PC, and Dh has issues with it sometimes, but men have their addictions like Playstation, Xbox, watching sports etc, so why can't we have our "thing" too?  It's my contact with the outside world when I'm stuck at home most of the day.

You've done sooo well to be smokefree for this long, don't give up now!!!

My babies:

R (9),G (7), J (5)

I haven't been on in AGES, as it is my addiction as well (and coke zero, too) and as our marriage is in the crapper, I have made an effort to stay off the computer to spend more time with him,as he said it is the one thing he hates the most, the amount of time I spend on the net. It has helped that he has been home since xmas eve and I have already made plans for my childfree time inthe morning and it osen't include getting in here!
What I have enjoyed the most about not turning the pc on at all is the amount of reading I have done! I read about 5 books this last week. Even last night when R was at the pub (sat night is usually my HUGE night online, lol) I didn't even think about turning it on. In fact it is only on now as I had to check my emails for something so as I have no excuse tomorrow morning!
So maybe make an effort for say one PC free night a week?
Hugs chick, and well done on the smoking stopping thing.

It is actually impossible for you to assert self-control over two things at once. If you try, you will end up failing both things (I'll see if I can dredge up that research for you).

Please stick with the non-smoking! The total lifespan you will save is so much longer then if you were on the computer less

And as the others have said, if your on it for fun when he goes for a run, aka - he's not even home!, then he needs to pull his head in. If it's taking time out of your couple or family time then he might have a bit of a point. I'd just let this one ride out for a while (especially if he's going to be away).

I have to admint I had a smoke today. I was helping my friend move house and she just gave one to me (out of habit, and I just took it out of habit), after I had it I was like WTF and didn't ahve any more after that.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!
