I prefer cremation, like you becks i have a friend who is an embalmer and after hearing some stories no way do i want to be buried. Ive never liked that idea anyway though. I always thought i would like to say have my mum cremated and then plant a tree and do a special wee area in the garden for her that i can go and sit anytime of the night or day. I wouldnt want to be going to a creepy cemetary at 3am in the morning when i felt i needed to be close to her!
Oh and in some cemetaries you can put ashes with a burial, just depends on the cemetary rules but apparently they generally like that cos they are all running out of room (i asked cos my friend buried her wee boy but wants to be cremated but wants to be with him when she goes)

I think I'd want to be cremated, but once I'm dead I don't think I'll care - up to dh and/or the kids/grandkids hehe.
But, on a related note, DH is English. I was talking to someone the other day about something similar and I realised DH and I had never discussed what he'd want done if/when he goes. Will he want his remains returned to England, or cremated and ashes spread somewhere over Plymouth Sound or stay here with us? Must ask.

Not thinking too much about it id have to say burial
As long as we haven't run outa room inside the earth when i die, coz i dont want to be buried standing up (wont feel at rest) Or we suddenly have geothermal active soil & everything starts bubbling up under there & burning skin & bone. I dont mind the creepy crawlies eating me, i like the idea of being part of the food chain
Aint the stories from undertaker freinds lovely

cremated just in case I'm not actually dead, being burnt i'll die pretty quickly but waking up in a buried coffin and losing all my nails trying to dig out would be horrible.

I wouldn't care for myself personally but for my little sister I didn't want cremation because all I could picture was her beautiful face and body being burnt and it's nice to go to where she was buried and to have a headstone as a memorial

See that's an interesting one Becks.. I mean, I wouldn't mind donating lungs, liver, kidneys.. but would want to keep my heart which in my opinion bears all the sgnificance of all those you have loved in your life and ties in with the soul in some way i guess. I don't know if you can specify though that you would donate x and x but not the heart.. |
But if you dontated your heart it could go on living and loving

Here's another idea. What about being frozen?? Me and DH watched a doco this afternoon on Nat Geo and it was about people being frozen so that when they work out a cure for death they will be able to live again. It cost sh!t loads but people are doing it and in the doco it showed the process of it being done , not my cup of tea.

I'm not fussed whether I'm cremated or buried, but either way I will have a plot with a headstone, that's really important to me. My grandparents were both cremated and had their ashes scattered and it bothers me that I don't have somewhere to go and visit them. I know it's a metaphorical thing and they're not actually 'there' but just the whole idea of having a 'place' is important to me.
One thing that does upset me is that Willie and the girls will all most likely be buried in the urupa on their marae as is tradition in their family, but I won't be coz I'm not strictly family, but I really want to be with my girls. Not that I couldn't be buried in the urupa, just that my family probably wouldn't be comfortable with it.
I'm an organ donor, I'd donate anything and everything they can use coz I have no need for it.
