I haven't either, but last night on TV1 news John Key said they had already released 14 policies |
lol.. that's him saying 'no she got it wrong" to the MP who said they weren't going to do something to do with kiwi saver. And another is saying we will beat labours tax cuts. And the rest is him saying no or yes to things but not giving any info about them.

So true, I haven't heard any policies of these yet. I just thought it was strange him saying but we have released 14 policies. I wonder if they are on their website.

Well said Stacey!
Personally, I am finding it really hard to even find one single policy that National has. All they seem able to do is tell us they'll not be doing what Labour is doing, or they'll do it bigger and better. Can he not get his party to actually get some real policies out there? Oh, thats right... they don't have any!

I was also dismayed to see people taking the current situation out on labour, saying things like we need a change cos families are finding it hard to make ends meet...do these people not realise that national are for the business/employer and will only make things worse for families?

I don't blame the current world food and petrol crisis on the little ole NZ government either and I think those that do need to sit down and think about it a bit more carefully.

EXACTLY! If I wanted the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer I'd vote National.

I think in part they are to blame. So ok they can't control the price of petrol as we buy it in from overseas so are held over a barrel on that one but there tax on it is a percentage, if they changed it so a set rate per litre then that would help no end. Don't forget everytime petrol goes up they pocket more in tax, why do they need that extra money? they don't, they didn't have it last year, they didn't have it 4 years ago when I moved here and petrol was a $1.14 a litre. Changing their levies on petrol would also have a knock on effect with the price of food as distrubition costs would be less and in turn would help the whole economy.
Having said that I think not voting for labour because of it would be a big mistake. In the grand scheme of things new zealand is doing pretty well, if national get in they will just f**k the country sideways and then in three years labour will get voted back in to clean up the mess.

Hear hear Cuppatea! What you said! National is all for the business/farming etc. Families won't get a look in.

NO they aren't to blame, and Labour as a socialist goverment has done a lot to help people. WFF, interest fee student loan, kiwisaver gave everyone who signed up $1000.
I do think they could have made tax cuts sooner, when we had a large surplus not wait until the economy is slowing.
And I think something could be done about the cost of dairy products, Fonterra is a monopoly in this country and steps should be put in place to make milk, butter and cheese more economical.

I agree - and let's not forget the free under 5's doctor's visits. Ok so where I am it costs a $16 surcharge but it would be much more if it wasn't for this policy.
I don't have a problem with people supporting other parties but it does annoy me when they sl*g off about Labour while signing all and sundry up for kiwisaver, paying next to nothing for their kids to go to the doctor etc. etc.

LOL! I love it
No I don't blame the government- I would say those people who made those comments aren't terribly educated on what the government actually does. Or what is happening in the rest of the world.
What needs to happen is for more pressure to be put on car companies (and stupid oil companies) who own therights to technology for cars that run on alternative fuels. Its ridiculous that the vast majority of cars still being produced have giant engines- if you want a family car (5+ seat 4-5door etc) its pretty hard to find one thats any less than a 2000cc which is insane. Car companies are releasing new 'family' cars for 2009 which have 3-4L engines! If you manage to blimmin buy one of the monsters theres no way a family can afford to run the things! It soooo gets on my nerves. A scientist will invent a car that runs on hydrogen etc and the oil companies will offer them millions for the technology patent then bury it so it eliminates the potential for competition.
Sorry for the irrelevant tangent
