Topic: What did you/do you do? Posted: 26 February 2008 at 8:21pm |
What did you do before you had kids? Or what are you qualified to do? Do you see yourself going back to it when your kids are older?

I worked in a call centre and I have desire to go back there again.
I'm currently working towards my teaching degree so will do that after all the kids are here.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

well, as you know I did all my teaching qualifications and graduated last year. am loving being back at work, but feeling the stress of it all. my associate said that 50%of new teachers burn out by week 6. the job doesn's stress me too much, but all combined is huge! I am glad I'm back full time, but I don't think i would have coped with full time work when the boys were any younger. i feel a lot better about Taine going to daycare now he's older.

LOL BabyonBoard, I did the same thing - and ended up with a Maya!
I'm a journalist, I have a degree in International Communication and a Post Grad in Journalism.
I love my job, it's all I've ever wanted to do and I'm really enjoying the pregnancy/baby aspect of my current job so am considering doing some Post Grad papers in pregnancy and childbirth to make use of all the knowledge I've accumulated recently.

I did 2 years of a Vet degree which I don't want to complete.
I worked for the City Council and don't intend on going back, and they now know that too .
I'll keep my business going but eventually I'd like to do some more study but I'm not totally sure what in yet

I was a Regional Account Manager for an Appliance Company. I have two papers to go on a business diploma, during my third to last paper I found out I was preggars with Lauren and I have no intention of completing it in the near future!
I studied part-time while also working full-time, my employer paid for me to study.
I have no intentions of going back to work in the near future, long term I intend to help out with DH's business.

I resigned from my crappy retail position so currently I'm a stay at home mum who will look for work later on, even if it's part time or during school hours.
I'm a Communications graduate (Socio Linguistics) I was looking at becoming a Child Psychologist or an ECE teacher, but I'm not so sure now. I'm also a qualified teacher aide

I was a PR Manager and freelance events co-ordinator. Have a degree in Communications (PR major) and nearly finished a graduate diploma in Marketing (two papers to go - got pregnant first!).
I'm still doing a bit of freelance work, in events and PR writing mostly. Not sure what I'll do once the kids are a bit older but know that I won't go back to the same job I was in before getting pregnant. Love some aspects of my job, hate others. I'm taking this time as a SAHM as a chance to re-evaluate and maybe take a change of direction - the possibilities are endless! Will definitely be returning to work at some point, I miss it and we miss the income.

Was studying and still studying now. Might get a parttime job or something later on when the kids are a bit bigger but would really love to be the one dropping and picking them up and be the one taking them to sports ect.

I am an Administrations Manager for a Trade Services Company (specialising in Property Management work for residential and commercial, Electrical, plumbing, building, painting etc), mainly do invoicing, payroll, quotes, Customer Service, Book jobs etc.
I worked part time 27.5hrs a week. I've been in the industry for about 7 years on and off between children and having a break.
I'm in two minds about whether or not I will go back there. I'm thinking that I might do home based care for awhile???

Karitane Nurse training in the 70s and Nanny Centre course in 2002, if the Midwives council bring in a Midwives assistant course i would do it as i would love to work in a neonatal unit with my experience as a Karitane Nurse and Nanny but even with all my baby experience and having had three children (Kelly who is cailtynsmygirls) mum and two others the hospitals with shortage of midwives and nurses say you have to be a registered nurse which I think is ridiculous,
Karitanes/Nannies could take the pressure off , or I would love to see a Karitane type hospital in Auckland as Waikato hosp has there Mothercraft unit and Auckland needs something
