Topic: I was attacked again!!! Posted: 11 March 2008 at 7:54pm |
I'll start at the beginning.
2wks ago while in clinic a strange man entered my waiting room. He is extremely intoxicated and was going on about his daughters records. I said we didnt have them as she was 6yrs (he told me her age and name) and we only deal with under 5yrs. He started screaming at me that I didnt care abou this daughter and I didnt love her etc etc.
Im freaking by this stage as I am stuck in the rooms with only one entry/exit. I had a mother just leaving and he started swearing at her telling her not to look f'ing at him etc. He finally left and I called the police. After getting the run around they said ring 111 as I had looked the door and had no idea if he was out there.
FAST FORWARD to
today I am in clinic with a great nana her pg grandaughter and their 15mth old. He comes in again and starts the whole senario again about the daughter and I dont f'ing care etc... I locked the door between the waiting room and my clinic room and call the 111. relayed the whole story including the 1st time he came etc and they want to know what the police did then. NOTHING I say as they never arrived hence why I am having to go thru it again.
Finaly the police turn up this time after 30mins locked in my room with this poor family. Drunken freak is still in the lounge saying he is waiting for me etc as he isnt going till I sort out his daughters file etc etc ...
So now I am completely scared of ever being in clinic alone again and i have 2 clinics next week arghhhhh

Wow Kels, how scary. That is one of my nightmares!! What did your CL say? Any idea what the police are going to do?
Big hugs. I don't blame you for not wanting to be there alone.

Oh gee thats awful. How on earth are u expected to do your job properly with that sort of worry. Can u get plunket to arange for another staff memeber to be there at the same time. Surely they cant ignore something like that, risking their staff and patient safety.

scary Kels - I hope that they took him away and that he has a trespass order or something against him so he can't come back.
Hope that you're ok and it doesn't happen again.

Police took him away then decided not to charge him and just trespassed him from the plunket rooms as they said he is what they class a "friendly drunk".... yeah right he looks like a big black dirty scary devil looking drunk in dark glasses !!
Same guy Emma.
Gemsm I rang the CL both times and she came both times and today with the area manager and the karitane nurse. They tried to get me to go home but I insisted on staying to see my families already booked in. Our KN nurse stayed with me for the rest of the day and next week if I still dont feel safe she will come down with me.
I am not happy with the police at all and making a complaint for the previous attack.
AND when I was leaving work I saw the freak at the corner of the street just sitting there

That is so scary. You poor thing. What do Plunket say when you talk to them about it? Are the Police following it up?

111 him anytime you see him near or he comes in again and demand that they arrest him on the trespass order...threaten that you will go their supervisor and officially complain if they dont lay charges next time...
Im sure he is a harmless drunk but no reason to allow him to continue his behaviour....

I dont call it harmless when hes yelling abuse, and makes others so terrified that they cant leave the building cos they feel so unsafe

kels with the trespass order in place he can not be close to the area, loyter around where you work or your home or anywhere you are he has to leave. IF he is anywhere near you ring the police straight away - even if hes sitting on the corner. I don;t beleive they should of called him a friendly drunk - How the hell do they know hes friendly - if you were scared and worried hes not a friendly character. Just keep reporting kels. this ofcause doesn't help if he turns up uninvited - and i would take the KN up on coming with you to your clinics

sorry ann but a trespass order only relates to a property...hence he has been trespassed from the premises only.
A restraining order is harder to get and goes further and protection order does all you say but you need to be in a domestic relationship or been in one for a PO...ummmm pretty sure Kels wasnt "intimate" with this freak...altho she does steal hubbies for diamonds from time to time ROFL
