It's everywhere at the moment, as something like this would be, but it makes me feel so sad and desperate.

Al said last night that he thinks the father has probably killed the mother, and dumped the little girl. In that case, he's probably done the kindest thing for her - left her somewhere public and relatively safe.

As someone though, that would give a lot to have a child, it's has affected me surprisingly to know that there is a little girl out there who needs a family. I'd adopt her in a hearbeat, and I'm not just saying that.

For whatever reason, my mind and heart are turning increasingly to adoption at the moment. Perhaps it's knowing what we've got to go through to have a child, and that there are already so many children out there, like Pumpkin, who are already here and need a family.

Isn't the world a funny, funny place?

i have been thinking about poor pumpkin too. Not too sure about the murder angle. sounds like she has been abandoned by both parents. And to think her parents may be NZers!

and ginger it certainly wouldnt hurt to start looking into adoption anyway. you may find yourself with kids all over the place...!!

She is so adorable too....it breaks your heart doesnt it, she must have been so scared. On the upside - she is prob going to have a much better life with an adoptive family than she would have with a father that would do something like dump her.

My mum has a friend who adopted 2 litle girls from china, a brother and sister from Fiji and then another little girl from China. They are all grown up now, and she has done an awesome job (she was a single mum!!) - I think adoption is fantastic, especially when you have so much love to give to a child.

Ginger my DH agrees with that theory of Murder, it kinda makes sense. Will have to wait and see now.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

Yeah it is really upsetting, I also think he may have topped the mum especially as there is no sign of her even with the amount of news coverage. It is good that NZ, OZ and the US are all working together to find the parents. I hope that she is safely settled into a family soon, be it hers or an adoptive one. She must be so scared at the moment, it is no wonder she didn't speak for 3 days.

hubby thinks so too. i mean, what mum wouldn't be beside herself if her estranged hubby took off with her daughter.

makes you just wanna hop a plane and pick her up "thank you" and bring her back home.

In japan they have an "unwanted children" box at some hospitals that poeple keep leaving toddlers in. I can understand saying you are tempted to leave them somewhere as they yell and scream, but never in a heartbeat would anyone I know.

In Italy they used to have special boxes at Convents for unwanted children that were in the walls, and you could put the baby into it then turn the handle and it would turn into the wall of the convent so the nuns would tak the baby. They have just re-introduced these at some of the big hospitals through Italy.

I saw a thing on those boxes in Japan, same as you when they are screaming a place but I could never leave behind my boys.

I was watching the news story last night and my heart was breaking for little Pumpkin.
I saw her wandering round looking for her Daddy and getting upset and all I wanted to do was wrap her up and bring her home.
I think adoption is an amazing thing to do Ginger, a huge gift for both the parents and the child.

I've heard of those boxes in Japan before too, I couldn't imagine just leaving a baby there! But it's better than some of the things that have been unhappening with unwanted newborns in NZ lately

Isn't she just an adorable wee girl, my heart broke when that story came out...I had an awful feeling that the father may have killed the mother - seems a bit fishy that they can't locate the mother and now the father is supposedly in the US...?? If that were the case, I am so glad that wee Pumpkin was spared...Here's hoping this story has a happy ending.

In the US they have made it perfectly legal to drop of an unwanted baby at fire station, hospitals etc with no questions asked, seems horrible but it has stopped a lot of unwanted newborns being killed by mums who just don't know what else to do. They should probably introduce something like that here and let the babies go to homes where they will be loved.

Oh sad. I just heard on the news the family of Pumpkin have been investigated by police and CYFS... So obviously that is why they are really stressing about finding the mum alive!! That poor girl.
