Topic: HELP..sex AFTER pregnancy... Posted: 05 October 2007 at 6:04pm |
Hi
me and my best friend who had her baby about 3weeks ago and my son only be born 1week ago today are in a friendly battle to see who's right and also other womans stories..
we basically want to know how long you are suposed to wait after you have a baby to have SEX?
I heard it was 6weeks so your body has time to go back to normal, and theres the risk of getting pregnant again also..my best friend didnt even wait a week before her and her partner were back at it.. ..
i also spoke to my midwife today but she sez that i could have sex right now if i wanted its more about a comfort thing..{women and there bodys}..
i know its rude to ask but how long did you wait and what are your thoughts and opinions?

Straight away.
I'm a guy.
Edit: I wish straight away anyway. I have a funny feeling that my wife is going to answer soon. I'll let her tell our story.

Nothing's rude to ask on here cause we'll only answer if we want to!
Usually there is a recommendation to wait for 6 weeks but this is only advised (vs recommended) in situations such as c/s I think. Really it just comes down to when you are ready. And that seems to depend on mojo and stitches It has been 4-8 weeks for us. I was far more ready after the c/s than the V stitches
There's a small chance of getting pg right away but that's what condoms/minipill are for but not all women get pg (when unprotected) either.

i think it dates back to the 6 week check. cause i remember my MIL saying that once we have been given the all clear at our 6 week check we would be able to get back in the saddle (prob her way of saying make me a girl now asap!) it is when you are most comfortable but after the 6 week check would be a good time tho cause then you would have had time to notice any problems etc...

Hi i was just reading some of the comments and thats what i heard that you had to wait till after the 6week check,i also asked my midwife that today and she said they used to say 6weeks but its up to the couple and when the women feels comfortable enough,i never had any stitches but had a normal delivery, with regards to the 6week check she also said that if you have sex before the 6weeks its ok becouse then they would be able to tell that everything is working properly and that there is no problems..
she also said that becouse everything with me was great e.g normal delivery,no stitches, bleeding just about stopped i would be able to get in the sack right now if i wanted too and believe me i dont as i couldnt care less if i never have sex again..lol...

I only waited three weeks and I had a c/s.
I think it comes down to when you are comfortable again. Easy does it though, it pays to go slow for a bit..

With my first baby it was a few week (3 I think). However with Josh it was a lot longer as I just didn't feel like it.
As the others said it is different with everyone and whatever you are comfortable with go with it.

With Maya I could have cared less, mind you it didn't help that Willie and I were barely even speaking to each other.
With the gremlins I probably felt ready about 3 weeks PP, and I know poor Willie was gagging for it coz he seriously hadn't had any action for most of my pregnancy, but we had to wait until 6 weeks coz my bleeding took forever to stop.

My m/w wrote us a script for condoms in week 2 as i was like whats the point i'm not having sex again......ever......... but in the end we did it at week 5. Not sure about the whole 6 week thing, my gp didn't even mention anything about sex at the checkup. I was very bruised from c/s and took me a while before I was comfortable so before 5 weeks wouldn't really have been physically possible for me.
I think really it just comes down to when you feel comfortable doing it and when you have enough energy.
I did tell DH he could do it when ever he liked if he did it without waking me up lol. he was also gagging for it as I had pg problems and we hadn't done it for about a million years

LOL I was day 5 after my first CS.... DH was desperate and I took some pain killers first
With the other 2 we waited a couple of weeks I think. But it is really up to you and as long as you dont have any scar/tear issues it should be fine...just use protection (friend of mine got pregnant in the first 6 weeks!!)

Willie had to wait literally from the night we conceived until the gremlins were about 6 weeks old
The stupid Plunket nurse that came to visit when the gremlins were 3 weeks old told me Willie should get a vasectomy. I told her she should mind her own business!

I made DH wait til Daniel was somewhere between 8 and 10 weeks old (just don't remember exactly lol). My scar down yonder was still ultra sensitive and still had pain so wasn't going near sex outta fear of it hurting like hell.

I remember telling him he had to be 'gentle' but he was too busy being like a bull at a gate for fear I'd change my mind

We waited just under 3 weeks, but I had a very normal delivery no stitches or anything.
Poor hubby this time round since I am so much bigger with the 2 babies I just can't find any comfy position so i dare say he will be gagging for it as soon as these twins are born!!!

lol i told my DH we had to wait 10 weeks ha ha he believed me until we were visiting good friends of ours that had just had a baby and they asked if we had had our first rumply yet. lol. whoopseeee
I think it ended up being about being about 6 weeks after the first what with the stiches and the bleeding....eww not going there with the bleeding.
And maybe about 5 weeks after the second.
