Topic: I lost the baby Posted: 31 December 2005 at 3:51pm |
I sterted spotting this morning, and went to the doctors. The ultrasound shows a gestational sac only 4w6days which is smaller than it should be, and fluid around my ovaries. They told me to come back in a few days to repeat the ultrasound and see if baby is growing, but it looks like he/she stopped growing a few days ago.
I also had my hCg levels checked, and will get the results later today or first thing tomorrow, but the bleeding is quite heavy now so I supsect that the test will just confirm the obvious.

Thank you everyone for your support. I had a D & C last night at Royal North Shore Hospital here in Sydney. The doctor told me that it is the safest way to ensure that we are able to fall pregnant again soon, and it also gives me some closure knowing that baby is actually gone. They have been really good about letting me keep 'baby' too, so we are able to bring him/her home and bury him/her in the same spot where we buried Maya's placenta. Its apparantly an unusual request for them here, in NZ it is commonplace, so the doctors did think I was a little strange, but they were very respectful of our wishes.
I am now undecided whether or not to cut our plans short and come home in a couple of days, or wait till 15th like planned. On teh one hand I really believe that this is something Willie and I need to work thru together, and so I should go home, but on the other hand it is 3 weeks till Maya starts back at daycare, so I will just be sitting at home feeling miserable, and making her miserable too, and Mum and Dad have booked an apartment for next week on the Central Coast and I'm sure Maya would enjoy that a lot more. PLus I have great supportive friends up there who will look after me.
So I haven't decided yet. I wish Willie would come here, but this place already holds bad memories for him (his first wife died here) so he isn't keen on coming back again under bad circumstances either.
