Topic: Josh is in hospital... Posted: 25 February 2008 at 2:02am |
and I feel so bad for leaving him there but Andrew neded me at home as there is no room for him at my in laws.
Josh hasn't been well all day, it started with a snotty nose and lots of dribbling - to which we put down to change of weather and teething. He wanted to sleep all day which was fine by us. As the day wore on he didn't want to eat or drink and I noticed his face get slowly puffier, and he was gettting horse in his cry and his tongue was getting swollen as well.
About 9.30pm he did his first i'm going to stop breathing thing. I blew on his face and he cried and went on fine and then 10 minutes later he did it again. So I rang the in laws (they said to ring if I needed to take Josh to the hospital) and my FIL came over to look after Andrew.
Got to the hospital and the nurse took one look at him and the history I gave her she triaged him 2 and took him in straight away. We were put in a normal cubicle and then Josh did his holding his breath thing again and they didn't want to take any chances with him and moved him to a Resus cubicle. The dr there came in and had a look at him and did a few things and then went away to get the paed.
Paed dr came and saw him and she gave me a few opitions, keeping him in, me taking him home and seeing how he goes, me taking him home and bring him back in the morning (that was the option I was going for). She had another look down his throat and then decided that he was staying in as he needed to be observed in case he stops breathing again.
So he is now sound asleep in the childrens ward - I feel oh so guilty about leaving him there - and i'll go up and see him first thing in the morning after I drop Andrew off at pre school and let the nursery know he won't be in.
They know he has servere tonsilitis, but also think he has had a reaction to something , but I don't know what so maybe they will do some more testing.
Great start to the beginning of the semester for me. I'm just glad I don't have classes tomorrow.

Becks - I am home this afternoon - so yell out if you want to drop Andrew off at our place - even if it's only 30minutes or something while you pick up Josh. will be home around 3:30, but Lew is home all day

He's still there, I just had to get out of there it was far to hot and I was falling asleep - which he has done now.
Just had a blood test done and we will get the results of that hopefully this afternoon and then fingers crossed he can come home tonight as I don't know what i'm going to do.
His tongue has gotten more purple and his voice is getting more horse the dr has told me a few things it could be and i'm not looking forward to the results.
