Topic: Sick of interlopers! Posted: 18 January 2010 at 8:21am |
I dont know about you lot but i am getting sick of people registering and posting once or twice to maon about a thread or a comment on a thread.
Two people on the baby and coldsores thread have done it and i saw one the other week (but cant remember what it was sorry) that was the same.
They know nothing about us or our community and expect us to take them seriously.
I'm thinking that maybe it should be made mandatory to post an intro.
Then again you might all think i am being silly and dont mind it at all! LOL

I tend to agree a little as its usually just to tell one of us off!
Yes, some things we say may not be "sensitive" but most of us "know" each other and know how to take things.

I just went and had a look. Isn't it odd that she just turned up and joined the same day that someone posted about her friend?

It alway happens! How do they find out what we are talking about? They must spend a lot of time searching for threads on it...hmm....

i suppose if they googled it then the OB thread would come up. Or in the coldsore case the original poster might have mentioned it on the FB page.

There is a link on the FB page to let them know that the word has been spread so they probably found out from there.
Agree about the interlopers, they're so annoying, and the two posters you are referring to are just rude and were way too quick to get on someones back imo.

I actually don't have a problem with it. Someone here questioned if the story was true or not and friends of the person concerned have come to vouch for her, I'd probably do the same for my friend.
I remember reading an article quite some time ago on a UK news website so it certainly is a true story.

I think it is okay providing the person isn't creating a new username just to verbally attack someone. This is an open forum and I think new people should be encouraged to post. There must be hundreds of people who read and never post and I think a number would be scared off because it can almost be like a high school clique on here at times.

Is it possible to have posts removed where inappropriate language has been used etc, or where people are attacking others? I know on TM you can have people removed that don't observe the general rules of the forum.

I'd love to see a way to get rid of the spammers. They drive me nuts! and there's more and more of them now. They effectively kill threads.

I agree, it's a public forum and it's meant to be accessible to everyone.
On the other hand, it would be nice to have a way to stop spammers...
TBH I get more annoyed at the "vote for me" threads

Doesn't bother me personally, it is an open forum and I was never told that I had to post in the introduction thread when I joined 3 years ago...

It is an open forum and posters need to be aware that not everyone is going to agree / support their post. I do think any swearing or abuse should be reported/deleted though. Its also supposd to be an 'grown-up' forum.

Me either. And I think it is pretty stink that they were made to feel as if it is protocol to do so.

I agree.
Everyone has there own options it is a pity when people get singled out or attacked because they give there view, but then you are always going to get people like that in any forum. And as most forums are open to anyone you will always get people who want to start something & enjoy causing upset...just all part of WWW life
