Topic: How open are you? Posted: 08 February 2008 at 9:22am |
|
After another post I just wondered..
Are you more open about you/your life etc online or in real life?
Are you more likely to state your opinion online or real life?
Do you have anything you are less open about? And if so, why is that?

I think I am more open about some things- and less open about others! Depends on what it is really- although I would feel comfortable talking about almost anything I say on here with my close friends anyway, it would probably just bore them though
I think I'm more likely to state my opinion IRL- like I said in the other thread, I used to be more opinionated on here but it just got too much work so I have just started avoiding the things that might get peoples backs up.
I am less open about personal details like DOB, last name and address etc. I wouldn't mention where Charlotte goes to school or put photos up of my kids naked. I'm just paranoid and theres no need for any of those things to go on here anyway

I'm more open in real life definitely. I think because online people misinterpret what you are trying to say or I just have trouble wording it.
I'm also more likely to state my opinion in real life. I like to do things face to face. I will state my opinion on here but things get misinterpreted so if it's too heavy I don't bother. Sometimes I misinterpret a post and then when I read further I see that someone else has interpreted it correctly and think ahhhh; and the penny drops.
I have things that I'm less open about. I'll tell people things quite honestly face to face if they ask the question but I don't go out of my way to share my experiences really because I hate the way people start feeling sorry for me. And there are some other things that I only discuss with close friends and family because it's just the kind of stuff that you really don't want others to know and then start making the wrong assumptions.

I'm very open, if someone asks me a question about me I'll answer it. That's whether online or real life. I don't always go out of my way to share some things but I have no problem with anyone knowing something about me.
I can be quite opinionated. I try online to keep that under control, sometimes I can't help myself though hehe.

I'm open equally in real life and online just about different things.
I try not to state my opinion online as people get worked up way more and its just not worth it. In real life I do most of the time.
I'm probably a little too open online with my details. The only thing I'm not so open with is relationship details, I generally keep any disagreements between me and ben, between me and Ben.

I'm generally quite an open person so there's nothing really different I talk about online or IRL.

I'm a pretty open person generally but certain aspects of my life are out of bounds online and in person so both are treated equally I guess.

I think for me it depends on the subject. I can speak more of my mind online, but have a hard time in real life expressing my opinions.
There are definitely things I am not open about online as I know some people on here in real life so at times, there's just some things that you want to keep for yourself

I am probably half & half. I guess some of the questions I ask or things I talk about I am more open and happy to talk about them online.

I guess it depends on the topic/ circumstance, but I think I am much more open in real life. I often worry that you cant use "tone" online very well, so its hard to read what people are saying the right way. IRL you can use your voice, body language, smile etc....which makes it a lot easier to voice opinions or be open about things.

I'm a what you see is what you get kinda person online and IRL, my online personality is pretty much me IRL as well. I don't really do shy, which is funny coz I was painfully shy as a kid.
I am probably a bit more careful/tactful with what I say on here coz I am aware I have certain responsibilities with this being my job, sometimes I might read something and think "that is so stupid" but I keep it to myself coz it's not really an appropriate thing for me to say.

I am very open in IRL and pretty much the same on line as some of our Oct Mums have probably found out by the things I openly discuss (in particluar my very graphic and traumatic birth)!! I don't have many secrets that I don't share, I like talking too much

I'm less open on-line about some TMI-type topics, because, well, I know the net to be a great place for people to have a perve at whatever takes their fancy. Also I wouldn't want men reading some of the stuff I could talk about with a girlfriend. IRL I'm not shy about anything much being TMI. When it comes to stuff I think 'oh puh-lease' about, I think I'm a little more open IRL, because when you're talking with someone face-to-face they can see your intentions behind it better. I find if I say something difficult via writing alone it sometimes looks harsher than how I really mean it, so I try *try* to restrain myself sometimes!

I think i'm an open person (I mean I have given my story on my pregnancies for Emma to use).
Sometimes I feel that what I have written isn't what I am trying to say sometimes so IRL is easier for me as i'm a talker not a writer.

I think it would depend on the topic and if I was comfortable with it or not, am pretty much an open person and normally freely talk to people either online or IRL about most things, obviously there are some things I might only talk to my sis or best mate to about. Am more or less an open book, if you ask me a question 99 % of time you'll get an answer.

I'm quite open but find it easy to get across what i want to say when I write or type it (my brain and mouth don't work well together...I think to fast and of lots of things but am unable to articulate it properly so I'm saying probably more open online).

I am probably more open online, as I find it much easier to write than talk. There is a lot of stuff I just dont feel comfortable talking about IRL, either TMI type things or controversial type things unless I really know what I'm what talking about.
