Topic: Toddlers vs newborns Posted: 17 February 2008 at 9:06am |
Which did you find 'easiest' (not that either of them are?): Your newborn, or your toddler? People go on about how difficult toddlerhood is for mums but I have to say, I found a newborn much, well, maybe not harder, but it was a far less enjoyable stage than this one. Some people thrive with newborns - when are you in your element? With a little newbie, or watching your toddler systematically break everything in your house?
My vote is on the Toddlers!! Am I the only one?

newborns as such arent easy - well i didnt think so - its not till they get past that yucky poos stage and figure out the feeding and sleeping thing that they get easier... say about 3/4mths old i suppose then they are a piece of cake...
then again the toddlers are easy when they are not pushing the boundaries. i had only one the other day at the supermarket and it was a breeze.
i always thought one child was a piece of cake tho, as a mum it wasnt till i had two that i had to really start "working".

I'd go with newborns only becuase they are less able to methodically pull every single thing off the shelves while scattering toys from one end of the house to the other while demanding your attention all the time as well as throwing themselves off things.

Newborns - at this stage my toddler can't tell me anything anyway, so he just throws a tanty whenever he wants something (NB crying is WAY less annoying) sure he's enjoyable... but so is a little baby that's just wants to sleep, and lets you cuddle them.

I think toddlers here - I don't cope well with the newborn lack of sleep. That said, I don't *hate* newborns - the masses of cuddles and tiny wee-ness of them makes up for it!
I am just loving the stage DD is at right now and the older she gets the more I enjoy her.

I found newborns way easier but toddlers can be more fun. My favourite is the first few weeks and then from about 5 months til 18months when they are just gorgeous and haven't yet got a mind of their own.

I think they each have pros and cons but in saying that I did find the baby stage more easier.

Totally newborns here. There are some days I would gladly give Andrew away.

I wouldn't say easier, just different, and I agree that for me it was easiest between about 5-10 months. The newborn stage was dreadful coz they screamed a lot and had shocking reflux etc. and the toddler stage is driving me up one wall and down another and I am sick of the constant mess my house is in with the twin terrorists on the loose.
That said, Maya was definitely easier as a newborn than a toddler, she was a dynamite tantrum thrower.
