Hi,
We just went for our 20 week scan and our EDD has now jumped forward a week. Original LMP EDD was 25/01/11 after this scan it is 17/01/11.

We are all having fun trying to guess due dates and gender. There are also a few of us who enjoy astrology and as the current dates sit on the cusp of Capricorn and Aquarious it makes it even more interesting.

So, I was just curious which others have found to be the most accurate theLMP or AUA EDD.

How sure are you of you LMP date? It really depends if you had a regular cycle and ovulated on day 14 (which surprisingly enough not many people do). The Earlier you have a scan the more reliable it is so by 20 weeks it can easily be a week out either way.

And just to make things even funner every pregnancy is a different length so there is no way of knowing at what gestation your bub will decide to make an appearance. So basically what I'm saying is a due 'day' it a bit ridiculous, it should be a due week lol and even that will be a guess.

But for me my second pregnancy I was quite sure of my LMP but a 12 week scan pushed it back a few days and she was born closer to the scan date than the due date.

ETA: I'm a Aquarius/Capricorn cusp baby, I'm on the 21st of Jan

LMP for me. My original LMP EDD for DS was 23 March but at my 12 wk scan they put it forward to the 13 March. He was born on the 26 March. I should have just stuck with the original LMP as I was 100% sure of my dates anyway.

My LMP EDD was 3 September and my 13 week scan EDD was 31 August. Jackson was born 20 August, so 2 weeks early either way.

Depending on who you talk to some say the 13 week scan is more accurate, and some say the 20 week scan is more accurate. Personally I'd go by your LMP if you are pretty sure of the dates

The earlier the scan the more reliable the dates... i personally wouldnt be paying much attention the dates of the 20 week scan as by then genetics are taking over and a larger or smaller child will be "due" later or earlier....

I would go with LMP or earlier NT scan if you had one.

Yup, wouldn't put any weight in a 20 week scan in terms of determining the dates.

As a PP already said, if you have a regular 28 day cycle, then LMP is fairly accurate, a scan is subject to human error (i.e even a few mm out can change dates by several days early on) There is a weeks difference between my 7w scan EDD, and my 12w scan EDD, but my LMP EDD sits right in the middle, so thats what we are sticking to. Doesnt really matter either way as this baby wont be going overdue.

Thanks all.

I am very sure of my LMP date as I was practicing NFP at the time. My previous pregnancy was ectopic so we also had a scan at 6 weeks, this one confirmed the 25/01/11 date which I had worked out. The 12 week scan put it a day earlier as the 24th.

I admit I was surprised at the sudden jump of this latest scan given the previous ones were in agreement. Still it is all very fun and most of our predictions are based around less that scientific methods.
