Does anyone have any ideas of a place to hold an afternoon tea (preferably self catering) for a max of 40 people. I am trying to plan a birthday party for my grandma.

Schools sometimes hire out their halls for private functions and you could hire a caterer. A cafe may let you book out for a couple of hours and provide the food.

rugby club rooms generally hire out too. We just had a family gathering at one yesterday was a great place as kids had so much room to race around

You can hire individual rooms at Caccia Birch for smaller functions. Its all self catering. I had my wedding there we had the whole venue, you can use one of the individual rooms. Its also BYO alcohol if you need it brings the cost down heaps.

Mt Lees is available too.
