Tavish was on our list for #2 . I loved the name sooo much but we went with DH's first pick.
If we ever have a 3rd we have decided it will be Tavish.
Our #1 has the scottish surname Macauley as his name so wanted to ran with that but ended up with a croatian name for number 2 (Frano).

We love Tavish as well, if this one is a boy he will be Tavish or another Scottish name I prefer Tavish and Dh prefers our other option. Still deciding and we were the same, wondering what kind of reaction we would get, but we figure it goes nicely with Lachlan and suits the middle names that the baby will have if it is a boy

I think it's a really nice name.
Only thing is, will you get annoyed if people call him Travis? That's what I immediately thought when I saw the name and had to re-read it. If the pronouciation is similar then he may be forever correcting people - not that that's a reason not to use the name though.

When I tell people what my girls names are they hear Emma and Eva. I think that's accent related however.
When people see them written down they say Eye-mear and A-o-fee

It is pronounced pretty much exactly how it looks. Like Five, but with an F instead of a V.
Thanks for all the support. I am loving Tavish now, but guess what......DH said he is not so keen anymore!!! I'll try to talk him around, as this is the only name we have agreed on so far.

Scottish surnames as first names are really popular and great for boys.

I like it and I think when all these babies are at school there will be a lot more 'unusual' names.

and another point - they will probably never have to share their name with someone else in their class.
Rachel wasn't a common name in the UK at all when my parents named me - then when we moved here, it was quite common. When I was standard 1 or so I was in a class with two other Rachels!!
It's nice being the 'only' one with your name!!
