Best foods in a canadian mayo I think but also aussie and nz. Thats what I thought about mayo being on the shelf... I thought it must have been heat treated, thanks guys

Hi Ladies

My friends and i are getting together tomorrow night for a movie and dessert evening. I was hoping to make either creme brulee or creme caramel (very similar). I've looking on the net but can't find a solid answer as to if i can eat these desserts.

I'm aware i can't eat raw egg and both these desserts are baked so the egg is set, but they both have to be cooled prior to eating. The guide of food i can eat mentions that homemade custard has to be eaten hot and never cold.

Can anyone confirm please?

Hmm... my guess would be that in theory, they're probably a no-go. I mean, the basic concept is the same as chilled custard.

At the same time, I think if you made them yourself and took good care, the actual risk would be pretty slim. I wouldn't myself, but I know I'm overly-cautious. I think the odds of there actually being a problem would be really low.

Think i might be safe and make an upside down cake instead. The dessert wouldn't taste as sweet if i was worried the whole time about the risk.
