My turkey of a partner was caught doing 120km/h on his motorbike, it was a 100km/h area but he only has his learners motorbike license which means he can only go 70km/h. He lost his license for 28 days on the spot and got a $600 fine for speeding. He claims to not remember what the police said but I thought he would have to go to court and would lose it for longer. Does anyone know what the deal is here? I've tried googling it but couldn't find anything.

What I want to know is is that the end of it or will he go to court and lose it for longer? Will he get another fine and how long is he likely to lose it for?

TIA

If he is going to go to court then he will get a letter in the mail instructing him to pick up his summons, which would have a date and time for his case to be heard. If nothing comes, then that's it really!

Usually for speeding like that, they just do instant loss of licence. If it was for DIC or similar where they actually need to convict you of something in court, you have to go otherwise it just gets sorted on the side of the road and that's that.

They generally don't punish once then punish again. If he's been done for reckless or dangerous driving then it's a court thing but I think if it's just for the speeding then what he got should be about it.
