someone said bring back the good old days of OB...
Well i dont think they were any different. threads would get heated, people would get upset about heated threads and certain people and complain about it then someone would post a thread about how bad OB was. then someone would post how it was so horrible and they were leaving and then everyone else would say no dont go. then there would be a thread about being PC and not posting what you really wanted cause you didnt want to offend someone and the thread about how it is hard to get across your meaning in the internet world cause you cant see facial expressions etc... and then it would be all quiet for a while with no interesting stuff happening and every one walking on tip toes... and then... the circle would begin again, and it will again and again.

I don't mind debates but I get sick of pointless mud-stirring where something goes around and around in circles and ends up a long way away from the OP.
So basically, I agree with Bobbie - if it's cooled down, just leave it be.

This made me crack up. Good sentiment
Whomever said that the 'heated' threads often seem not to have much of a point these days - I totally agree. Some of them really don't warrant the amount of upset that seems to be caused.
Not like the good ol' Circumcision, smacking, immunisation, gender prediciton etc. threads
I do think there seem to be more people who are joining OB just to make comment on a particular thread rather than joining to meet other parents and discuss many subjects and be part of a community.

[QUOTE=cuppatea]
I actually don't think OB is bitchy, certainly no more than it has ever been, just lately everyone seems to be more sensitive.
Ooooh maybe we've uncovered a new phenomenon (sp???) and just like in Halls of Residence etc we've all aligned our menstral cycles so are all witchy and grrr at the same time! I caught myself out yesterday infact 'stiring the pot' (on another forum) but lucky enough had enough wits about me to re-read the OP and realise I'd gotten the wrong end of the stick, plus PMT meant my reply was a bit off. I do heartly agree however that it would be really nice, as another confrontation IRL avoider, to be able to freely state my opinion on a matter and not be shot down for it when it doesnt coincide with what the OP wants to hear.

I love a good debate and love the debate threads. I actually think everyone has got a lot better at keeping it on topic and not getting personal. I'm sure they used to get a lot more personal than they do know which is awesome. If people can't handle it just lurk then. It actually really annoys me when people post about how bitchy it is and people need to be nicer. Very rarely do I think people are nasty, they just have a better argument which annoys people.
In saying that I don't have enough time to say what I want and then be able to keep coming back to back up what I say so some of the time I don't bother.
I hate the big whiney 'I'm leaving' posts for attention.

Oh, I so agree. To be fair, I've never seen one on these boards (may have missed any that have actually eventuated). But I've seen them on other forums and they make me feel like saying 'Ok, then, have a nice life", pretty much, even if I agreed with the persons stance!

Me three if you want to leave then just go - if people really cared or missed you they'd get in touch.
I've taken a few breaks from OB over the years as some of this TTC stuff really does my head in but I don't make a big song and dance about it I just don't come on. easy

Thanks :-) , I find it easier to express myself with humor rather than arguing, I don't have the energy for it and would give up too quickly .
